If insulin became available in a once-weekly formulation, how interested would you be?
This sounds like a pipe dream to me. I said, "Not at all interested," with a little unsure. How would one dose a week of insulin handle high and low blood glucose? How would it handle exercise and work activities? If you're talking only as a long-acting insulin, and you have to take boluses, then it's NOT once-weekly. I took NPH years ago, and it was a horrible experience for me (for 25 yrs. ).

If it handled basal and bolus correctly, where my time in range was 80-90% and I only had to do one shot a week that would be amazing

Would this be a basal insulin? How would meal-time insulin be administered? And how would fluctuating insulin needs (day vs night, sedentary vs active) be managed with a single dose? I have many questions that outweigh the possible convenience of a single injection (if that’s what this question is about).

I said moderately because being on Medicare, I’d need much more information such as how many weeks would I be able to have on hand without additional prescriptions? Would I still need some kind of preauthorization once per year that’s a hassle getting? How long would it stay good - the same amount of time? Would the pump take a week’s worth or how does that work with pump supplies?

I'm MDI and if we're talking basal it isn't a big deal to me. Now if we're talking fast acting, that's a much different story!

On average, how long does it take you to recover from a low glucose episode?
I find I can normalize my BG in 15-30 minutes. But after ~50 years with T1D and maybe due to getting older I am fairly exhausted for hours after a hypo.

On average, how long does it take you to recover from a low glucose episode?
It varies from 5 minutes to 20 minutes. The exception to this is the very occasional low that's resistant to resolving and - as Anthony said in his comment - I continue adding more glucose until I begin to feel the symptoms ebb. Once the low is gone the extra glucose will slowly but surely result in a higher-than-desired blood sugar.

On average, how long does it take you to recover from a low glucose episode?
I answered 15-30 minutes, but there are times, especially at night, especially when very low, that it can take 1-2 hours. That's a real pain. I just keep throwing glucose at the problem which will creat high readings later, but I have to get the glucose reading to rise and it won't. Also, my best quality decisions are not made when awoken in the middle of the night.

How often do you take a “vacation” from wearable diabetes technology (insulin pump, CGM)?
Never! I think about my blood sugar so much less with all these devices attached. And I barely notice them once they are on. It’s such a blessing that when I have to take them off that’s more of a problem/inconvenience than a vacation.

Nope. Love my technology! Having it frees up so much mental bandwidth that I would otherwise have to spend on finger sticks, calculating insulin doses, figuring how much insulin on board, etc. Also, I love not carrying a purse with all that "stuff" everywhere I go - I put my license & credit card in my phone case and I'm hands-free. Absolute magic!

Yes. I’m not one for taking vitamins or supplements. But, a year or two ago, my Endo included a vitamin D test with my blood tests. I was vitamin D deficient. So, I decided to take a 100% of daily dosage of vitamin D. It may be psychological, but I feel that I have more energy now, and my running times have also gotten better.

I take 5,000 IU twice per day. Before doing this, my Vitamin D levels were low, Since doing this, they’ve been pegged at the high end of normal.

I was trying to correct my last word but apparently hit the send button. I don’t take a separate D pill but 63% of the daily D requirement is included in my daily calcium chews along with a little bit of K.

Yes it can. Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin. If you get too much your body stores it, as opposed to water soluble which gets exerted if you have more than your body needs. Look it up😀

My obgyn suggested I take a Vitamin D supplement and my endo said to take 2000IU daily. I marked “Sometimes” as I only take it a few days a week. I’m concerned that 2000IU is much higher than the 800IU RDA. I’ve not had a blood test to confirm deficiency, so I don’t want to pop pills without evidence.

RDA is generally lower than what many people require. You should do f/u blood tests to monitor your levels. Vit D is an important vitamin helping with many different systems in the body.

I take 4000iu 5 days/week, which puts me at low normal Vit D levels, even during the PNW’s lengthy summer days. One endocrinologist stated that if Vit D were discovered today, it would be classified as a hormone and not a vitamin (as someone commented earlier).

I don’t remember my dosage, but I do take a supplement every day. I know it’s not the huge numbers some others are taking, but I think it’s about 5000iu.
I was diagnosed as deficient (my number was 12, I think) and the Vit D is doctor ordered. The diagnosis was around the same time a doctor said I had osteopenia. So, calcium seemed affected by the lack of Vit D.
I was also diagnosed recently with Vit. B12 deficiency… seems like my blood just likes to get rid of the good stuff! ;p
