  Occasionally. It smells like a doctors office, or a dentist office.

  Yes, 42 years Type 1. I don't remember R and NPH smelling as strongly as the analogs do now days.

  That's the preservative. It's also useful for detecting leaks or broken tubing.

  Of course, it smells like insulin. Lol also my husband and son know the smell, so they’ll ask me if my pump is leaking when they do smell it. They find it rather disagreeable in oder. 🤷🏼‍♀️

  41 yrs here and same. My ex-husband told some random cashier at a truck stop once he knew she was diabetic because he smelled insulin. She was, but I was so embarrassed! How RUDE he was, I'd have died if a stranger said that to me. Plenty of reasons he's an ex. She was surprised and said yes she was but was probably mortified, too. 🤦‍♀️

  prepared insulins - the stuff we use, contains phenol. That;s what we're smelling.

  Same! Im wondering if many who don't notice it just use pens. I never notice it then, only with vials and filling my pump unless I have a leak.

  No. Unfortunately, the senses lessen with age. Olfactory in my case being the first to go. Hearing is less. Eye sight lessened. Taste and haptic senses, though, are still robust. 🐦
