  When you go away for the weekend (2 nights), how many low snacks do you bring with you?
  The purpose of the trip affects the number of snacks, for a relaxed sit around kind of activity I don't need many, but if the intent is hiking or other vigorous outdoor activities I will pack more!

  In a typical week, how often are you woken up by your CGM or other diabetes-related alarms (such as, for a low or a high alert)?
  I answered 5 or 6 times, but that is not exclusively glucose level alerts, many are "loss of signal" alerts from my G7 sensor.

  If you drink caffeinated beverages, do you bolus for the caffeine itself (in addition to any carbohydrates in the beverage, such as sugar, milk, etc.)?
  I drink several cups of black coffee daily and have never noted an increase in blood glucose levels due the coffee, so I do not bolus for it!

  If you were misdiagnosed with another condition before being diagnosed with T1D, were you experiencing diabetes-related ketoacidosis (DKA) when you were eventually diagnosed with T1D?
  I was in the military in Korea when I started having symptoms that I had no idea were related to T1D, so I did not seek medical attention. I returned to the US and did not seek medical attention because I wanted to visit my family as my brother was headed to Vietnam. While at home I suffered DKA and was in a military hospital for a month (not sure why) before returning to my duty station.

  For years I had injectable glucagon at my house, but used it only once when an EMT gave used it on me. More recently my insurance has covered nasal glucagon. I travel frequently, alone, and I have used the nasal glucagon a couple times when my other remedies (primarily glucose tabs) raised my BG too slowly. Very easy to use, even when quite low.

  I answered other because I am screened annually, which wasn't an option.

  I was diagnosed while in the USAF, at age 22, and became responsible after my discharge that same year. However, because I was diagnosed while on active duty I was eligible for free T1D care through the Veterans Administration, which has continued since 1970.

  The only time I have been hospitalized due to T1D was in 1970 when I suffered a diabetic hyperosmolar coma, due to ketoacidosis resulting from undiagnosed T1D.   If you have never used an insulin pump with automated insulin delivery (also known as a hybrid closed-loop pump), what are some of the reasons you’re reluctant, or obstacles you’ve encountered? Please select all that apply.
  My private insurance carrier will not cover either a CGM or pump, but I am now receiving my CGM from the Veterans Administration and am exploring receipt of a pump from the VA.

  What foods or products do you keep on-hand specifically for hypoglycemia/lows?
  I keep glucose tablets around the house and in my cars. I also carry a pack of 10 glucose tablets around with me all the time.
