  There should be an option for: Not Anymore. I've felt judged in the past but I don't anymore. I think that most people around me have a reasonable understanding of my health issues (everyone has something) so they don't question my management now.

  Does proximity to your T1D health care provider impact where you choose to live?
  We were considering moving from the Puget Sound to a warmer state. Proximity to health care was in the top three items of consideration. We decided not to move yet. I have excellent care at the University of Washington Medical Center and its clinics and would need that world-class care anywhere I might move to later. Besides T1D, I have had a kidney transplant, and have had a brain tumor removed. I would need care for all those aspects of my health.

  Overall, how do you feel using a CGM affects your stress related to T1D management? If you’ve used one in the past, reflect on that experience to answer the question.
  Getting a CGM was also a great stress reducer for my husband. He didn't have to wake me in the night to check my BG, he could just look at the CGM reader. The low alarm from DexCom really helped to wake me/us up if I really needed to make a correction. I had a couple of times that I didn't get a new transmitter before the weekend and had to wait a couple of days. Being without it made me realize how much I depend on my CGM.

  My CGM low alarm is set at 80. So, I would eat a few carbs so that my alarm doesn't continue to go off. Then go to sleep. If my BG gets to 80 again my CGM will alarm and I will determine what to do at that point.

  If you use a CGM, how many times in the past month have you had to change your sensor more than 24 hours before its session expired?
  I did, however, have to replace a sensor before it got started due to the sensor not being released from the applicator. I contacted DexCom and they will be replacing it.

  I changed because the health care provider seemed to treat me as just a number. He didn't look past what was in the chart, which he didn't read until my appointment. I found a provider who viewed me as a multifaceted human. I stayed with that provider until my insurance changed.

  I was told that having diabetes intensifies your emotions, it doesn't cause them.

  I've noticed they all have their own bias. It's hard to sift through and determine what would work for me.

  This question relates to pumps. There should be an answer that says I don't use an insulin pump, regardless of age.

  When you calibrate in DexCom 6, you enter the value from your fingerstick. DexCom will then show a number that is halfway between its number and the fingerstick number. I often will enter the fingerstick number a second time so that DexCom will adjust so that it and my fingerstick number are the same.

  If you have had surgery while living with T1D, were you able to choose the person who managed your T1D during the procedure? If you have had surgery multiple times, please answer for your most recent procedure.
  I had surgery at Univ. Of Washington in Seattle. They have exceptionally good teams of Endocrinologist along with the nurses who managed my T1D during my last surgery.

  Have you ever been without health insurance while living with T1D? If so, please share more in the comments about how being without insurance impacted your T1D management.
  I was without insurance for a couple of years. I had to buy insulin out-of-pocket. It was about $450 a vial. Someone pointed me to a pharmacy in Canada that would mail the insulin to me. I could get a vial for $30. This helped a lot. There had been other things I did without but I made sure to get my insulin. I was thankful when I got a new job and insurance to cover my diabetes supplies.
