How often do you over-correct low glucose levels?
Some of the time. Usually, it occurs when I have a severe low blood glucose. Then I get that insatiable appetite. Most of the time, I do well with corrections.

If insulin became available in a once-weekly formulation, how interested would you be?
It would depend on if it was blood sugar responsive. I currently have an A1c near 6 and don’t want to give up control.

I like having control over the amount of insulin I administer according to my diet and physical activity.

I responded "Unsure" because I'd need more information about this before I would be willing to try anything...

If it handled basal and bolus correctly, where my time in range was 80-90% and I only had to do one shot a week that would be amazing

Would this be a basal insulin? How would meal-time insulin be administered? And how would fluctuating insulin needs (day vs night, sedentary vs active) be managed with a single dose? I have many questions that outweigh the possible convenience of a single injection (if that’s what this question is about).

I said moderately because being on Medicare, I’d need much more information such as how many weeks would I be able to have on hand without additional prescriptions? Would I still need some kind of preauthorization once per year that’s a hassle getting? How long would it stay good - the same amount of time? Would the pump take a week’s worth or how does that work with pump supplies?

I'm MDI and if we're talking basal it isn't a big deal to me. Now if we're talking fast acting, that's a much different story!

On average, how long does it take you to recover from a low glucose episode?
I find I can normalize my BG in 15-30 minutes. But after ~50 years with T1D and maybe due to getting older I am fairly exhausted for hours after a hypo.

On average, how long does it take you to recover from a low glucose episode?
It varies from 5 minutes to 20 minutes. The exception to this is the very occasional low that's resistant to resolving and - as Anthony said in his comment - I continue adding more glucose until I begin to feel the symptoms ebb. Once the low is gone the extra glucose will slowly but surely result in a higher-than-desired blood sugar.

I answered 15-30 minutes, but there are times, especially at night, especially when very low, that it can take 1-2 hours. That's a real pain. I just keep throwing glucose at the problem which will creat high readings later, but I have to get the glucose reading to rise and it won't. Also, my best quality decisions are not made when awoken in the middle of the night.

How often do you take a “vacation” from wearable diabetes technology (insulin pump, CGM)?
Never! I think about my blood sugar so much less with all these devices attached. And I barely notice them once they are on. It’s such a blessing that when I have to take them off that’s more of a problem/inconvenience than a vacation.

Never. I have severe hypoglycemic unawareness. No symptoms even at glucose levels of 40.

Nope. Love my technology! Having it frees up so much mental bandwidth that I would otherwise have to spend on finger sticks, calculating insulin doses, figuring how much insulin on board, etc. Also, I love not carrying a purse with all that "stuff" everywhere I go - I put my license & credit card in my phone case and I'm hands-free. Absolute magic!

This year went down to 3x per year because of fewer issues. Used to be 4x per year.

Every three months, four times in 2022, as required by Medicare. I’d prefer to go two times per year.

I also have Medicare as primary but I only go once every six months. I would rather go once a year but the prescriptions for Dexcom and Omnipod won’t be filled if I don’t see her every six months. I do not use Medicare for prescriptions but federal BCBS. BTW, the doctor’s staff argued with me that I had to go every three months according to Medicare rules but now they know that isn’t true.

I answered “other”. With a move in the middle of the year, and the retirement of my long-time endocrinologist, I have seen an endo in my previous hometown, and a nurse practitioner specializing in endocrinology in my new home area. Things still seem in flux.

I see my endo at least every 6 months for my Dexcom due to Medicare requirements. He is a full professor and does a lot of research so I learn a lot and can participate in research opportunities. I see my pcp every 3 months for my pump supplies and insulin RXs due to Medicare again. I can see him for other problems as he is much closer to my home. It’s worth it as I don’t have to pay for my insulin, pump supplies or Dexcom supplies.

I answered 3 x, but if I included the online appointment the answer would be quarterly. I saw my endo 3 x and CDE 2 x, including an office appointment to answer my low potassium diet questions.

2- reluctantly. Only see my endo 1x a year normally. But DME supplier/insurance was requiring doc notes from the last 6 months so back I went. Thank goodness my provider squeezed me in quick to get me what I needed!

I started on new insurance last March, so I was only with my current endo for 3/4 of the year at most. Thus, only 3 appointments were possible last year.
