  Switching to pump made my catatonic lows stop. I think my body had a major problem with long acting insulin. That was before my son was born 15+ years ago

  Switching to pump made my catatonic lows stop. I think my body had a major problem with long acting insulin. That was before my son was born 15+ years ago

  A Little Satisfied: If we are talking Edgepark They are the worst company I’ve ever encountered. Horribly slow and incompetent. Customer service reps do not know what they are doin hand will blatantly lie to you to get you off the phone. Byram is decent, they just have issues properly billing my secondary insurance and mislabel my primary insurance often on claim forms.

  None/Something else. I always have mine silenced because I don’t mind a vibrate, but I hate hearing it scream all the time. So, unless it’s a critical low alarm, I am always set to vibrate for everything.

  Always! It’s absolutely relevant to make sure they know so they can avoid prescribing anything that may conflict with insulin, or cause bs fluctuations. As well, they could easily misdiagnose something that could be potentially linked back to diabetes.

  None. Because I don’t have strips. But, if I had a high I couldn’t get down or had a high with nausea I would go to ER if needed and have them check. But in 35 years I’ve never been in DKA, exception might have been at dx but no clue due to being age 4.

  Both. I’m more OCD about blood sugars and management but I also can live more carefree in terms of lows because I know I’ll be alerted before it becomes an issue.

  I don’t feel the need to hide because I don’t care what others think. I am not my diabetes, and if someone makes assumptions I either school them or write them off entirely.

Some sites work better than others so I always have to be vigilant and manually adjust dosing higher to accommodate either for poor absorption or a stubborn high. Or, if I want to eat a full snack to fix a low, sometimes it doesn’t want to calculate any insulin. But I know I’ll go high if I don’t take some insulin so I manually enter then as well. Insulin resistance is a pain.

  “Bother me” in terms of stressing about it? No. “Bother me” in terms of poor absorption and limited virgin territory for sites? A Lot. But, I answered it based on feelings rather than on psychical impairment.

  I only bolus extra for protein if I’m eating low carb.

  If you use an insulin pump, do you prefer that your pump be rechargeable or use batteries?
  At first I was excited about the prospect of rechargeable when I switched from Medtronic to TSlim. But, charges don’t last as long as batteries do and the worry about charging in a prolonged power outta has been a concern in the past. You definitely have to think more about charging when you get the opportunity if you have a busy schedule to make sure you can keep pumping without interruption. I do kind of miss being able to carry a spare battery or 2 and being done for a few weeks before I have to worry about it again.
