  In late 1980s after a divorce, I had a few years without health insurance. The cost of insulin and syringes at that time was not expensive so I paid it myself. It was not a problem to not have coverage at that point but it would be today.

  I find Siri in my auto to be quite helpful in telling me my glucose while driving. I don't want to look down to my phone or watch for this info so I just ask and it tells me my levels and whether it is climbing, level or falling.

  I was asked in MA, FL and TN which is where I presently live. Each time I have not marked that I am diabetic. 67 years Type 1.

  Sometimes it can be hard to hear important CGM alerts, especially overnight. Do you use a secondary app or device to help you hear them better?
  I wish there was a way of turning off the alarms when I am at certain functions that the alarm would not be appreciated. I watch my glucose levels carefully so I don't really need all the alarms that are on Omnipod 5 and Dexcom G6.

  I agree the question would apply what context. If I am driving I don't want it at 70 or below. If I am at home very low for me would be 30 or below. I've been T1 for 67 years (no complications) and I am aware any time I fall below 70. A 55 reading is no big deal to me. We are all different.

  If you use a continuous glucose monitor (CGM), have you ever been asked to remove it for a medical procedure? Share more about your experiences and what procedures you had to remove it for in the comments!
  With every surgery I have had I was told to remove it. I said no surgery unless the pump and CGM remains on me. So let me have my way then. It is a struggle each time. I broke my fibula yesterday so surgery is probably next with another fight to keep my things connected.

  Almost 67 years with diabetes and no CKD to date. My husband, who is non-diabetic, has 14% kidney function and he is not overweight. You never know.

  If you were diagnosed with diabetes as a child or teen, when did you transfer your care to an adult diabetes provider (e.g., adult endocrinologist, adult diabetes specialist, adult primary care provider for your T1D)?
  I was seven when I was diagnosed. I did not see an endocrinologist until I was in my 40s.

  When counting your carbs before dosing insulin, do you factor the amount of protein into your carb calculation at all? If so, share how in the comments!
  I'm one of the weird ones that does not count carbs. After more than 66 years of T1, I know how food affects me and bolus accordingly without counting carbs.
