TCOYD, as they are Doctors living with T1D. Their video's are informative and funny, I like T1D to 100, and Joanne Milo, as she too lives with T1D and understands what aging with T1D is like, and Tom from Type One Talks, as his video's are entertaining and informative.

I am going to be general rather than specific (to protect the innocent 😏 ). I enjoy the researchers and the individuals living and making a good life of T1D. I loathe following what insurance companies, private equity, investment bankers, credit default swappers, derivative managers, mergers & acquisition operatives are doing (legally, and encouraged by) to the American health care system.

Have you ever worked with a professional (outside your T1D healthcare team) to review your diabetes data, adjust settings, and insulin ratios?
Early on in my diagnosis, I went to a diabetes camp. I had just started insulin and nothing was dialed in yet. It was really nice to have so much time with so many knowledgeable people. I think it would have taken quite a while to put things together with just me and my team.

How many times a week do you exercise?
Define exercise: I walk, do yoga, mow a corner lot at home, garden, vacuum, take care of a toddler from 9:30 am until 4:30pm twice per week, do Core exercises for women over 50 (I’m 68). Do I go to the gym and perform a regimen? No. But I think I get plenty of exercise.

My dog and I hike 4 miles a day (2 early am and then 2 in the pm). Then I also do 30 minutes of yoga and 30 minutes of TaiChi 6 days a week.

I am not sure. Do you consider a pump trainer outside your healthcare team? She wasn’t my usual go to and haven’t spoken to her since I got set up and dialed in. Despite that, most pump setting changes I do myself.

Have you ever worked with a professional (outside your T1D healthcare team) to review your diabetes data, adjust settings, and insulin ratios?
If you consider referring to Gary Scheiner and John Walsh's books - then no. But those two gave me the confidence to adjust settings and since I am a math/data nerd to trust my ability to interpret data.

Pickleball two mornings a week, 2 strength training classes and 1 yoga class per week at the gym. Plus, dog walks on demand!

lift weights 3x a week and run several times per week. been having foot problems lately so the running has been spotty but it's getting better. The consistency of lifting weights have a big effect on the amount of background insulin needed (MDI).

I still participate in research for many different conditions, but not currently clinical trials.
I used to do this often, mainly for epilepsy, but I am now no longer a good candidate with too many conditions.

I’ve tried but my A1C is too low. It seems they only want people with poor control.

These feels like a very β€œshaming” response. Sometimes a myriad of factors affect a1c other than poor control: stress, hormones, growth spurts, other medical issues, dosing adjustments, or medication changes. I would love to see simple support for all who face T1D daily regardless of their β€œcontrol”.

I answered No, but I should have answered Yes, but not T1D related. No studies related to T1D ever want me because my A1c is too low, or I’m not overweight, or I take a psych med, or I’m too old, etc. I participated in the original Moderna COVID vaccine study in 2020.

No, but my endo knows that I would be interested in a dual hormone pump trial (glucagon and insulin) if that trial were in my area. She said she would let me know if one is set to go near where I live.

I have participated and finished one and am at the end of another right now.
I wanted to participate in a third trial, but my A1c was too low.

The two that I participate(d) in have been fantastic experiences. I’ve learned a lot and my pump set up has gotten lots and lots of great scrutiny! The doctors and nurses I have encountered have been fantastically kind and generous with their time and information.

If more come up in the future that I can qualify for, I will definitely give it a go!
