  While those items are very much a concern, there are other factors that are more concerning ie immunosuppressant.

  Age 73 here. I'm in the same boat. I ogten am considered too old for consideration for "smaller" research projects. But - best of luck to them. I'll be rooting on the sidelines.

  I've tried twice and was rejected both times because I control my diabetes as best I can. As others have already stated, if immunosuppressing drugs are involved, count me out. I'm not interested in something worse than what I already have.

  I am hopeful- it may not be in my lifetime, but they have already made great strides in the research. The autoimmune response and need for immunosuppressants is still a pretty big sticking point.

  I don't see how a cure will be possible without islet cells as they are what produce insulin. Using immunosuppressants or not is what will determine what the first "cure" will be like. If safe immunosuppresants are used, then it is actually a "functional cure". If they can infuse islet cells without needing immunosuppressants nor other meds, then I would call it a "cure".

As a veteran, I get all my supplies through the Veterans Administration. They’re very responsive to my needs.

I used to get my supplies from dexcom but now they are switching to using only other distributors.

Currently from Dexcom, but I received an email recently that said they would not be shipping to consumers any more. I will probably switch to my pharmacy.

I currently use a 3rd party provider but start Medicare in May so will get supplies directly from the maker then. Medicare refuses to cover Medtronic CGMs so they offer a significant discount, even less than my co-pay with insurance and a 3rd party.

When I first went on the Dexcom CGM I was told by Dexcom they were not Medicare authorized suppliers, and they suggested going with Byram Healthcare. Byram is great to work with, and I even purchase my pump supplies (Medtronic) through Byram as well.

I have always gotten them directly from Dexcom, but as usual, anything that is easy and quick becomes a nightmare. Just got notification that I need to go there a supplier. Dexcom gave me a list of some different companies but not the one I use for my pump supplies. So now it is a morning spent trying to get someone to give me an answer that I am hoping I can get pump and CGM supplies I one quick order.

Soon to change… Until now, I’ve had to get CGM and pump supplies as DME, but with current insurance, when I get my next order, it will be covered at NO CO-PAY from my local pharmacy under my current Pharmacy Benefits.
