Sarah Howard (nee Tackett) has dedicated her career to supporting the T1D community ever since she was diagnosed with T1D while in college in May 2013. Not something I care to discuss publicly, but for the sake of science. I became a T1D at age 23. I lost my sexual ability in my forties. I am now 69 years old.
Not sure since I am in my 70’s and besides diabetes, an aging libido may certainly be a primary factor. I’ve also had Type 1 for 46 years. There may also be other “relationship” factors in play accounting for my decrease in physical intimacy. I am not taking any medications for diabetes-related complications other than lisinopril and levothyroxine. My diabetes has been well-contolled with A1c’s in the high 5’s and low 6’s for the past 20 years.
Well, to be honest and truth be told, vaginal dryness is the only sexual “side effect” that has been blamed on life with diabetes … otherwise I am still sexually active with my beloved husband and partner in life and we are both nearly 70 years old!
Yes. I blame diabetes for the lack of physical ability. The plumbing and desire are fine but the pipe sags. I tried the V-pills but they make me feel real bad and don’t really work for me. It is hard talking with the Dr. about it (pun intended) because they just want to offer more pills.
I’m 79. My last orgasm was springtime about 3 or 4 years ago. When I complained of ED, my PCP Rxd 3 to 5 (60-100 mg) sildenafil tablets by mouth about one hour prior to sexual activity. This alone hasn’t worked to bring me up to former sexual capacity that I had 10 years years ago. I’m still considering consulting finding a doctor who’ll prescribe a safe but effective way of administering testosterone or an anabolic steroid in a dose low enough to avoid causing cardiovascular problems but high enough to restore normal ability that I had up to my sixties. My present doctors say it can’t be done, but there are doctors who advertise otherwise. Analogs of the hormone insulin can be delivered in small safe doses, why not testosterone?

No. But let’s correlate this issue with age which has a stentorian voice in this conversation. In my 72nd year with T1D I am still outshouting him.
Yay for you! Congratulations. You inspire all of us
I’m experiencing symptoms that have been linked to diabetes, but diabetes has never been confirmed to be the cause
Dyspareunia polyneuropathy
Dysfunction linked to prostate surgery, but at 77 with T1 diabetes since 1951, I would probably have experienced dysfunction by now from diabetes.
No but things are different at age 74 compared to younger years.

Nothing of a long term chronic condition… but when BG is low… I’m out of it!
Yes, but doctors don’t seem to care pan out the sexual health of a female. Only about male impotence. And I find it absolutely infuriating.
*Care about

I think I have/had a low sex drive but not sure if that’s diabetes related or just me.
