I still participate in research for many different conditions, but not currently clinical trials.
I used to do this often, mainly for epilepsy, but I am now no longer a good candidate with too many conditions.
These feels like a very “shaming” response. Sometimes a myriad of factors affect a1c other than poor control: stress, hormones, growth spurts, other medical issues, dosing adjustments, or medication changes. I would love to see simple support for all who face T1D daily regardless of their “control”.
I answered No, but I should have answered Yes, but not T1D related. No studies related to T1D ever want me because my A1c is too low, or I’m not overweight, or I take a psych med, or I’m too old, etc. I participated in the original Moderna COVID vaccine study in 2020.
I’ve been apart of the DCCT/EDIC study for over 35 years I am proud to be a part of the advancements in diabetes that have been found through the years on the study.
I tested the adhesive for the new dexcom G7 a few years ago. I wore a fake sensor on each arm and each side of my abdomen for 14 days and tracked how the adhesive was affected.
I participated in the first Tandem ControlIQ trials and adhesive testing for the Dexcom G7
I have also participated in trials for products that never made it to market including several non-invasive, no blood BG meters.
No, but my endo knows that I would be interested in a dual hormone pump trial (glucagon and insulin) if that trial were in my area. She said she would let me know if one is set to go near where I live.
I have participated and finished one and am at the end of another right now.
I wanted to participate in a third trial, but my A1c was too low.
The two that I participate(d) in have been fantastic experiences. I’ve learned a lot and my pump set up has gotten lots and lots of great scrutiny! The doctors and nurses I have encountered have been fantastically kind and generous with their time and information.
If more come up in the future that I can qualify for, I will definitely give it a go!
I have participated in the PERL study and the PANDA studies on kidney disease. Also one for the latest closed loop pump. I have done many studies over the past 30 years at the University of Washington medical center.
tried to do one of the Vertex trials. this one did not require immunosuppressants but my A1C was lower than the range that they wanted.
I am currently participating in the T1D Beacon trial at Mass General looking at bone density with long standing T1 and changes over 2 years.
I consistently try – but never qualify. Perhaps my “numbers” are too good?

No, but I did in 2017-18 for Medtronic.
I was part of a flu vaccine trial for post-transplant patients.
I’ve tried but my A1C is too low. It seems they only want people with poor control.

The Vertex trail regarding stem cell replacement. I went through to the very end and then found out I didn’t qualify. Very disappointing!
I have not been eligible for any
I applied but my A1C was too low to qualify.

I was in a trial for a non-invasive device to check blood sugar
I participated in the Faustman lab phase 2 BCG trial for Type 1

I wish! Applied to many, many but was never chosen (sic. yet). I have serious decades of experience to offer somebody… use me already will ya!?!?!
