Marcus Aurelius Meditations for the benefits of stoicism. Dante’s Inferno for the nine levels of diabetic hell. Kristen Lavransdatter for the benefits of suffering. And best of all, Cervantes Don Quixote for the absurdity of tilting at so many worthless windmills of frenzied diabetic activity.

TCOYD, as they are Doctors living with T1D. Their video's are informative and funny, I like T1D to 100, and Joanne Milo, as she too lives with T1D and understands what aging with T1D is like, and Tom from Type One Talks, as his video's are entertaining and informative.

I am going to be general rather than specific (to protect the innocent 😏 ). I enjoy the researchers and the individuals living and making a good life of T1D. I loathe following what insurance companies, private equity, investment bankers, credit default swappers, derivative managers, mergers & acquisition operatives are doing (legally, and encouraged by) to the American health care system.

Have you ever worked with a professional (outside your T1D healthcare team) to review your diabetes data, adjust settings, and insulin ratios?
Early on in my diagnosis, I went to a diabetes camp. I had just started insulin and nothing was dialed in yet. It was really nice to have so much time with so many knowledgeable people. I think it would have taken quite a while to put things together with just me and my team.

How many times a week do you exercise?
Define exercise: I walk, do yoga, mow a corner lot at home, garden, vacuum, take care of a toddler from 9:30 am until 4:30pm twice per week, do Core exercises for women over 50 (I’m 68). Do I go to the gym and perform a regimen? No. But I think I get plenty of exercise.

How many times a week do you exercise?
My dog and I hike 4 miles a day (2 early am and then 2 in the pm). Then I also do 30 minutes of yoga and 30 minutes of TaiChi 6 days a week.

I have a score of zero on the coronary calcium scan after 67 years T1 so I see no need of a daily aspirin. My husband, who is not diabetic, has a score of over 700 and does take a daily aspirin.

I bleed easily and it can be hard to stop the bleeding, so the aspirin would be counter-productive for me.

I was just diagnosed (about 2 months ago) with heart disease and the doctor asked me to start taking a daily low dose of aspirin. So, I do.
My angiogram will happen this week, so I’ll likely get at least one stent and two balloons or maybe they’ll stent the other two also.
My family has a strong history of heart-disease, so, while unfortunate, it isn’t really a shock.

I’ve taken a 81mg aspirin daily since 2006 and it was finally figured out I’d had my first CVA at 36. In 2012 when the reason for it was discovered and I had my first cerebral by-pass it became necessary to help keep blood flowing through the by-pass. Moyamoya Disease is just a whole bunch of fun.

My doctor put me on a daily dose of 81mg aspirin about 40 years ago. Five to 10 years ago, my doctor said that new studies showed daily aspirin to be dangerous for older people. So, I stopped.
