I have insurance through my husband’s employer along with my own Medicare if needed for hospitalization. Many aspects of his insurance are not to be found after retirement. All parts of diabetes are covered 100% as they are considered preventative. My main medical costs currently are epilepsy medications and treatment. Deductible is almost always met by May or June due to medications or epilepsy appointments.
I have hope in neurology making headway similar to endocrinology in my lifetime. It takes healthy people taking participation in scientific research.
With excellent primary health insurance and excellent secondary insurance, I meet my deductible in January. What is wrong with this health system and capitalism 7 point 0? Am I missing something us this good ol’ US of A? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯? 📈📉
I used to hit my deductible within the first 6 months of the year….and it was a high deductible plan $6,000. Then I changed jobs and was denied insurance so was thankfully able to get on my husbands plan which had a lower deductible. Now on Medicare, Medicate advantage and the Carpenters Union opened their own pharmacy I never hit my deductible. I am very blessed and grateful everyday!!
What deductible are we talking about? Medical, drug or out of pocket maximum? I don’t have a deductible before my insurance kick’s; as long as my insulin doesn’t go sky high again I will not meet the donut hole and thank goodness it’s been a few years since I met my out of pocket max. Last time I did was in 2018 when I hit it 2 or 3 week’s into the year. Cancer is good at that and it was in the middle of my year of treatment.

I put 2-4 months, but it’s usually within 1-2 months. It depends on when I order pump/CGM supplies. That meets it right away.

I have a super high deductible, so it takes a few months… but I get there in the end.
In past years I met my deductible in Jan/Feb. This year, due to being on a different insurance plan, I have not met my deductible yet.
Deductible is $4,000 and max out of pocket is $8,000 so it takes us a little longer but we get there eventually.
I do not have a deductible.
