Sarah Howard
Sarah Howard (nee Tackett) has dedicated her career to supporting the T1D community ever since she was diagnosed with T1D while in college in May 2013. Since then, she has worked for various diabetes organizations, focusing on research, advocacy, and community-building efforts for people with T1D and their loved ones. Sarah is currently the Senior Manager of Marketing at T1D Exchange.
Sarah and her husband live in NYC with their cat Gracie. In her spare time, she enjoys doing comedy, taking dance classes, visiting art museums, and exploring different neighborhoods in NYC.

Just as Bruce Schnitzler said, they probably were adopted and weren’t given info on their biological family.

Perhaps the “I don’t know” response came from an adopted individual with no knowledge of siblings.
My brother, not a twin, became T1D at 23. I joined him at 40. Our grandmother was in her early 40s. Familial genetics? I think so.
I am not a twin but I do have a brother who also has type 1 diabetes. I was diagnosed at 8 and he was at 5. There are 4 of us kids and two had type 1.
Identical twin here. She does not have T1D. Everyone always finds that fascinating.
