  It is virtually impossible. I need my husband to help me because there is no way to plug the transmitter into my arm one-handed. To extend the use of a sensor, you’d have to take off all of the tapes (Medtronic does not send extras) disconnect the transmitter w/o pulling the sensor out (ha!) recharge it, plug it back in, and retape (ask your doctor to prescribe more).

  1969. Mom died Aug 1. The ER docs thought I was psychotic with grief. Had me on a couple of antidepressants. Went into a coma Oct. 31. Diagnosed 2 days later.

  How often do you clean your skin with an alcohol wipe before giving yourself an injection or inserting a new pump site or sensor?
  Always for the CGM, rarely for the pump site, never for an insulin injection. In 53 years, I’ve never had an injection site infection.

  Yes. I was seven and my mother died on Aug 1. The church was bringing us (dad and three siblings) dinners and desserts every night. Halloween rolled around and I was “acting strange” wetting my pants, walking into trees. The doctor diagnosed me with psychosis stemming from grief and put me on a couple of antidepressants. I had developed a cough so I was given cough syrup (pure sugar). I slipped into a coma and no one knew what was wrong with me. It took two days until, finally, a young doctor on the emergency staff figured out to test my bg.

  Because my pump/CGM Auto mode doesn’t allow for square or dual boluses, I end up taking boluses after two and four hours for higher-fat meals.

  As an adult, I was denied several times but my dad got one when I was 11—diabetic from age 7. I shake my head because I have a great A1c and have outlived several friends and family who were considered to have had good health.

  I absolutely have diabetes distress related to insurance not covering supplies, high copays, and loss of coverage.

  If you have ever gone through the process of getting a prescription for a GLP-1 agonist (e.g., semaglutide, exenatide, dulaglutide, liraglutide, lixisenatide, etc.), how easy or difficult was the process of getting a prescription and obtaining the medication?
  I was able to get the prescription but because these are not approved for T1 diabetics, my insurance won’t cove4them, hence why I’m not on one.

  The doctor I had for 40 years tested every appt. My new, young has never tested me in two years. Kind of concerning.

  I am a firm believer that the resultant “sugars” once high fat/protein meals metabolize affect my bg 2 to 4 hours after I eat. I wish my use of CGM allowed me to still use a dual or square wave bolus when in auto mode because, every time, my bg rises even though I’ve calculated carbs exactly.

  For pump users: In the past 3 months, have you had issues with insulin delivery due to a bent cannula or occlusion?
  Holy cow! 8 to 10” bubbles? There is definitely something wrong if that is happening to you. I occasionally get 1/4” inch 10” is excessive. Have you gone in and shown your pump instructor how you’re doing it so that they can help you figure out the problem?
