  Over the past 3 months, how much time would you estimate you have spent working through T1D prescription-related issues with pharmacies, insurance companies, durable medical equipment distributors, T1D device companies, health care providers, etc.?
  only once did I need to be advised. Rec'vd a steriod shot for frozen shoulder and had to set my pump to 400% and supplement with direct injections for two weeks. As it slowly left my body I had to slowly reduce the insulin. Complete PITA!! Orthepedics know nothing about insulin/diabetic complications with steriods. Excuse my spelling in a hurry

  What's interesting is that I've begun taking Adderall for ADHD, and my doctor and I are still trying to find the right dosage. Lately I've found that 20mg XR is just too much for me, and describing how uncomfortable and out of it I felt, my ex-cocaine user boyfriend said that's exactly what coming down from speeding feels like. But what's interesting is that it also feels exactly like a low blood sugar. I kept checking my CGM but my blood sugars were all fine, but I still felt shaky and spacey. So apparently a low blood sugar has the same feeling as coming down off of speed/drugs.

  I've never had a very severe low -- only been T1D for 7 months. But if I am dropping very fast, I usually get this weird tunnel vision where I feel like everything is converging and I feel unsteady. Then the shaking, clammy feeling starts. Usually takes 25-30 mins to feel normal again, even when my blood sugar returns to normal.

  I classify a severe low as one where I become completely stupid - it affects my cognition first and then my peripherals - like shaking, and fast heart beat etc...

  I get confused. My thoughts are racing. Making no sense. Unbalanced and uncontrollable movements. Sweaty and cold.

  My thoughts are everywhere, non stopping, but making no sense. Confused. Unbalanced, if I try to walk. Cold and sweaty. Jerky movements and involuntary movements sometimes.

  Before Dexcom it was in the middle of the night and my husband woke me up because he said I felt very clammy to him. I was sweating profusely. I could barely think to get out the words to him to go get my bottle of juice from the fridge. I asked him to get my meter so I could check my bs. And it was no surprise that the number 21 came up.

  I am a type 1 diabetic for about 40 years. I follow intensive insulin therapy. I have noted that that weather conditions affect the insulin intake quite drastically. Has there been any research findings on this?

  What are the causes of increases in blood sugar levels that are not connected to food or activity. My blood sugar levels will just increase while I'm sitting & If I don't catch it, it will go into the 200s. Very frustrating

  Hi Don - I didn't find an HCT number that Jneticdiabetic mentioned on the UVA school of medicine site. But, I did see an HSR# of 220300. Then I went to "clinicaltrials.gov" (thanks to Jneticdiabetic!!) and searched. This website does list the study you are looking for with the 220300 being an NCT# (not HSR as listed on the "med.virginia.edu" website.) In my opinion and if it were me, I would think it is legit. But, that is me. I hope that helps!

  Hi Don. All clinical trials in the US need to be registered at clinical trials.gov and are assigned an NCT number. You can search that website using key words, study site, etc to confirm legitimacy. The website will provide an overview of the study. If you are interested in possible participating in the study, you will be asked to sign a detailed consent form that spells out the details so you can make an informed choice if you want to proceed.   Autoimmune conditions can be prevalent but variant in families. No one else has type 1 diabetes in mine, but many others: Addisons, Lupus, MS, we all share thyroid conditions. Would there be a way to genetically test and prevent this from happening at birth?

  Usually experience a decline in sensor glucose after a site change. If it rises, that most often indicates a bad site, and lo and behold, a bent cannula.

  I always experience a rise after a site change, and have started using Afrezza inhaled insulin to combat this once my bg reaches 200 after a site change. Brings it right down. Cannot take it before reaching 200 or I go low.

  I've never noticed a big rose when changing my tubing it takes me only maybe 2 min. To change my tubing really not much of aa rise there is

  More often, I have a drop in my BGs after changing sites.

  I have noticed a slight rise in my blood sugar levels an hour or two after a site change. I adjusted my cannula fill setting from 0.5 to 0.7 units. This seems to take care of it!

  I chose "other," because I don't remember what year it was. I know I started on Medtronic, but didn't use their CGM for long. I then started on Dexcom about 6 months later. This was the G4, with a free upgrade to the then soon to be released G5.

  I use 0.8 instead of the directed 0.7 for the cannula fill, and also bolus in the next few minutes -- for food (or occasionally correction), whether I had intended to eat or not (usually I'm changing the site before breakfast, so it isn't an issue). In the past, when I've noticed a problem with a rise after putting in a new set, it's always been when I didn't bolus for a while.

  I always bolus for a site/pod change to avoid the rise
