  My endocrinologist (the best), told me after 1-2 years of his training, that I would do well because "You have accepted diabetes ." I did not fight the diagnoses. Now in my 53rd year.

  For people who use a CGM that does not typically require calibrations: If you were to spend 4 hours away from home but still in your local area (e.g., an afternoon of running errands around town, or going out for dinner and a movie), would you bring a glucose meter with you just in case?
  I rarely carry a glucose monitor if I'm away from home for 4 hours. If i'm in the office all day or traveling, I have it with me.

  I wish providers had known to tell me how fluctuating hormones throughout the month can affect blood sugar levels and the body's responses to attempts to control the wide swings of blood sugar changes. I wish providers had known to evaluate me for endometriosis and adenomyosis. I had excruciatingly painful periods for 30 years until I had all my reproductive organs removed because of endometriosis and adenomyosis. These two conditions greatly impacted my BGs and BG management because they cause a lot of inflammation.

  I was "lucky" - didn't develop T1D until my mid 50s so I got nuthin useful to offer kids from my own experiences.

  not specifically that way. But I feel comfortable asking anything I want. and he always asks if I have anything i am concerned about or want to discuss. I think having type 1 diabetes and being a nurse has made me pretty assertive as yo only get what you ask for in any relationship. You need to mention that you have concerns to discuss or something similar when you begin and then you will get attention to your concerns.

  why not make your appt when you leave the one you are at? I always do that before I leave

  They always focus on the information from my CGM which is helpful but I bring up questions about goals. My time in range is very good so I think they don't feel they need to bring up goals.
