  How important is the A1c measurement to you?
  My A1C results have never been accurate. My Endo says I probably have a protein in my blood that negates the results. I always get a Fructosamine test and that result correlates with my TIR.

  My Endo determined that I might be insulin resistant and ordered Ozempic, which is Semaglutide. I was able to decrease my insulin needs significantly and I lost 55 lbs in one year.

  My endo has not diagnosed me with insulin resistance. However, I am very Type-A, so high adrenaline and cortisol levels are a normal part of my day. During stress, my BG rises and a normal correction bolus often is very slow to bring it down. Once the stress levels go down, the insulin resistance seems to go away

  My insulin resistance has reduced since the time when I decided to control my blood sugar levels better.

  I need less insulin and lispro insulin works faster if I exercises regularly. Even the long actin insulin doses need to be reduced.

  I was diagnosed with LADA 2.5 years ago. My insulin resistance changes during the day. I am most resistant in the morning, which makes sense because cortisol levels are higher in the morning. By mid-afternoon, my body acts as if I have no resistance and and making insulin on my own in response to blood glucose levels. Yes, I adjust what I eat and my insulin doses accordingly.

  While I do not have insulin resistance at present, in the past ox and pig insulin stopped working on me. I am certainly grateful for recombinant.

  JEN FARLEY I have been a diabetic for well over 61 years and retired from health care. It’s not my Insulin life time. That is the typical 5 hrs. This is quite different. I could awaken at 140, higher than I’d want to be, and if I bolus my without eating anything and my bg will go up to around 180. Not many diabetic suffer from Anti Insulin Antibodies and it is NOT insulin resistance.

  I am overweight but working on it. Even at my highest weight I wasn't really insulin resistant. Sure, I took more insulin but I also was eating a lot more and it was usually junk food carbs. Last year my endo even said, sounding very surprised, "Except for the usual morning, you don't seem to have insulin resistance". I have the morning "feet on the floor" BG rise and it can take a couple of hours to get it back down. I no longer eat breakfast due to that. My normal TDD in my pump is around 25 units.

  You may want to check into how long insulin stays in your system. For me is is about 5 hours. I rarely see it work in a 2 hour span (the short acting) unless I am exercising or dancing.

  My Endo suggested I might have Insulin Resistance and prescribed Ozempic for me to try. I have lost over 50 lbs in a year and my insulin needs have been significantly reduced. I feel so much better. I’ve been a T1D for 38 years.

  I was having problems with insulin resistance until I started to lose weight. Now I am at a weight where it is a touch and go. Biggest problem is not noticing my low’s are coming. Been working on that but not a fan of high blood sugars so I can feel the lows. I see my endocrinologist once a month so we are working on it all. Insulin resistance, not feeling the lows, and everything in between seems to be an issue. Will never gain weight again!!!

  I don't have insulin resistance, but I wonder about all the variables impacting us. I need more insulin while using birth control. I just tried them again for one month and my insulin needs increased by 30% the day after starting. (I never understood why my insulin needs decreased after stopping them the first time as it took quite a few to kick in)

  Yes, I have insulin resistance. Have used Victoza in the past. Increasing my exercise has help with it, but still have issues. Diabetes in and of itself is constantly a work in progress.

  @TS, reputable organizations do exist for training dogs, for sure. But there is no standard of training and testing for diabetes dogs, which must be trained in the specific scent(s) of their person (lows smell differently than highs, for each individual's specific sweat). Example: a certified vision loss service dog must undergo a minimum of 120 hours and six months training, then pass an independent test of a defined list of skills, before being certified to serve. No such standard exists for diabetes service dogs in the U.S. *In the U.S., service animal and trainer certifications are not required for any service dog, either. An honor system exists. It really is buyer beware - question and research thoroughly!

  Actually, there are a few legit organizations out there that train to detect lows. You have to be very careful and do your homework though. Most people who need a service dog can't afford them so I found organizations that are sponsored and don't charge the participants. One that I am on the waiting list for is Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs in Florida.

  A1C is an indicator of an indicator of blood glucose over time. Just because the only tool doctors have is a sledge hammer doesn't mean they should use it every time we patients have a screw loose. I look forward to the day when CGM reports completely replace A1C tests for type 1 diabetics.

  I chose "other," because I don't remember what year it was. I know I started on Medtronic, but didn't use their CGM for long. I then started on Dexcom about 6 months later. This was the G4, with a free upgrade to the then soon to be released G5.

  A1C is just an average over 90 days, so it is NOT an accurate way to measure BG control. However, due to inaccuracies in CGM readings, Time in Range (TIR), Standard Deviation (SD) needs to be combined with A1C (since its not derived from CGM technology) to determine accurate measure of control.

  I put 2005-2007, but don't remember exactly. I recall trying an early Medtronic CGM for a short period then trying again in 2008 during my first pregnancy. These earlier versions didn't work very well for me, so didn't stick with it until reliability improved with the Dexcom 4, then Medtronic guardian with 670g pump and now Dexcom 6 with Tandem.

  Thanks, Don. I have not heard much about the G7. But, I will have to wait until Medicare approves it. Also, I must make sure it is compatible with my current Tandem X2 pump, and has Control IQ.

  I have 2 or 3 "start" dates because I had two false starts. My first experiences with the CGM were not positive and I hated it. BUT, around 2012-ish (I really don't remember the exact year, but it was around then), I had a Physician's Assistant who reeeeeeeaaaalllyyyyy helped me and the 3rd one stayed up! (Didn't have to get to the 4th one... sorry... silly joke... Monty Python reference... my brain is all over the board right now.) Anyway, CGM is SO awesome. It is not a perfect tool for me, but it is better for me than not having it. :)
