  My insulin brand is no longer covered. I have gone back and forth between Humalog and Novalog over the years due to insurance changes. Now my current insurance company wants me to change to Lispro.

  I answered yes but only based on the treatment my general practitioner gave me prior to my visit with my endocrinologist. She prescribed Glucophage to hold me over until I visited the endo because she didn’t know if it was type 1 or 2.

  I was in Ireland many years ago and pump broke. The cap that holds the insulin in place broke when I was replacing the cartridge. It was near the end of my trip and they wouldn’t be able to get me a new pump before I left 3 days later. I only had the quick acting insulin and a few needs. I was like a pin cushion for those days. I was anxious and ate very little. It was pre CGM too so my fingers hurt. A new one was at my home when I arrived

  I am highly sensitive to my blood sugar levels so like you I know my sugar is going low before my CGM alerts me because I get anxious about anything and everything or I can’t read.

  When my blood sugar is low my anxiety is through the roof.

  Anxiety. I suffer from anxiety and that has become my number one indicator that I’m low when I am not engaging with people . So if I’m watching tv, driving in the car alone, or sleeping(I wake and immediately start freaking out about something. It’s actually an early indicator which is good because I can react quickly and fix it. Confusion is number two followed by sweaty and clumsy.

  I prefer juices. I have become a snob because I figure if I’m going to have something I can really have it’s going to be good. I make fresh squeezed juice and BYO most places.

  What's interesting is that I've begun taking Adderall for ADHD, and my doctor and I are still trying to find the right dosage. Lately I've found that 20mg XR is just too much for me, and describing how uncomfortable and out of it I felt, my ex-cocaine user boyfriend said that's exactly what coming down from speeding feels like. But what's interesting is that it also feels exactly like a low blood sugar. I kept checking my CGM but my blood sugars were all fine, but I still felt shaky and spacey. So apparently a low blood sugar has the same feeling as coming down off of speed/drugs.

  I've never had a very severe low -- only been T1D for 7 months. But if I am dropping very fast, I usually get this weird tunnel vision where I feel like everything is converging and I feel unsteady. Then the shaking, clammy feeling starts. Usually takes 25-30 mins to feel normal again, even when my blood sugar returns to normal.

  I classify a severe low as one where I become completely stupid - it affects my cognition first and then my peripherals - like shaking, and fast heart beat etc...

  I get confused. My thoughts are racing. Making no sense. Unbalanced and uncontrollable movements. Sweaty and cold.

  My thoughts are everywhere, non stopping, but making no sense. Confused. Unbalanced, if I try to walk. Cold and sweaty. Jerky movements and involuntary movements sometimes.
