Who We Are and What We Do

T1D Exchange is a nonprofit organization that drives improved outcomes in the treatment of type 1 diabetes (T1D) and type 2 diabetes (T2D). In collaboration with our partners, we collect and analyze data to advance T1D research, identify gaps and unmet needs in diabetes care, refine best practices, and ultimately improve the quality of life for all people living with diabetes.

How We Help Academic Research Institutions

With more than 45,000 people directly impacted by T1D in the T1D Exchange Registry and Online Community, we are connected to a community that has a passion for participating in research.

Through study recruitment efforts within the T1D Exchange Registry and the Online Community, we exceed the study recruitment goals of our research partners who are working to change the future of diabetes care and technology.

Study Recruitment Success Stories

T1D Exchange supported the JAEB Center for Health Research in recruiting participants for a study they were conducting in partnership with Dexcom. The recruitment goal was 80 participants. Within one hour of sending a recruitment email to the T1D Exchange Online Community, JAEB had enrolled 96 study participants!

The University of California, Davis partnered with T1D Exchange to recruit participants for its survey regarding telemedicine during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, with a goal of recruiting 1,000 participants. T1D Exchange was able to recruit over 1,000 participants from our Online Community, in addition to 1,100 participants recruited from the T1D Exchange Registry!

T1D Exchange Registry participants virtually participated in a new program focused on reducing stress and the burdens of living with T1D with researchers at the University of California, San Francisco.

“We had over 2,000 participants! I was hoping for at least 500, with a bigger goal of 1,000. I could have never surveyed 2,000 people with type 1 diabetes without a partnership with the T1D Exchange. It was essential and such an easy process.”
