  When reflecting on this past year, would you say your T1D management has become:
  I am a tech-savvy person who often buys the bleeding-edge of newly developed things. (Bleeding-edge being something so new it costs so much that your wallet bleeds and the technology is touted to do marvelous things). The tech developments, no doubt make diabetic life easier. But the ravages of age counter tech developments with unrelenting certainty (joint inflammation, arthritis, hand-cramping, nerve deterioration, haptic deterioration, sight deterioration, memory deterioration, caring for people who have all of these age issues plus a plethora of other). On balance, it is more difficult. I remain optimistic because I love people and challenges. 𔘓

  I would say, management of my condition has gotten harder but my outcome was better. I am still concerned about maintaining this level into the new year.

  Only difficult part is my Endo likes to focus on the minuscule things I'm doing wrong and didn't hang out atta boys. Clearly not a diabetic and doesn't understand there is so much more to this battle than the numbers on his tablet.

  The difficulties kind of switched for me. It used to be management was difficult and insurance predictably reliable. Now, on Medicare instead of employer insurance and switching to Tandem and CGM, management has become easier but insurance on Medicare is not reliable. They throw a lot of wrenches into things. The pre-auth slows things down, I don’t like not seeing the script and having to pick a pharmacy that doesn’t always do things right. Communication between me, pharmacy, doctor and Medicare seems to be glitchy. Can’t figure it out. For first time in 25 years, I had to buy a bottle of insulin for peace of mind.

  How many nights in the past week was your sleep disrupted by diabetes (device alerts, checking blood glucose levels, or treating a high or low)?
  Mostly the alert about changing pump. You have to acknowledge the alert or every so often it will sound again.

  Still alive age 76 with 70 years Type 1. When I was 14, article in Diabetes magazine said I have a life expectancy to age 40. Showed them!!

  More equanimity when my blood sugars are not where I prefer and/or when I am getting overloaded by alarms.

  My goal was to get my A1c down from 7+ to mid six numbers. I have been 6.6 and 6.4. Nice to get a win in this never ceasing battle.
