Dennis Dacey's Profile
| Name | Dennis Dacey |
| About Me | Living with Autoimmune Diabetes since at least the summer of 1955; retrospectively I now recognize the signs but then, being an invincible teen refused when asked to admit how I was feeling. My long "Honeymoon period" ended on my 16th birthday when I was too weak to get off my bed - was admitted to a two week stay in hospital where my BS registered at 1700+ mg/dl and with severe acidosis poisoning. Foolishly, I didn't recognize the seriousness of diabetes, kept it hidden for too many years and now I'm paying the price. Fortunately for me six decades ago, my eyes were opened by the woman who was to become my wife. she made an appointment for me with the Medical Director at Joslin Clinic where I began the long road turning my diabetes to a healthy path. Now in my mid-eighties, I have for 50 years made diabetes my science project, participated in trials and experiments, asked experts questions, studied all I could about diabetes and now for two decades openly share what I've learned hoping to assist PwD live better lives. |
