  I use Tandem control IQ, works great when I'm sleeping or not moving around much. If I do any sort of activity, walking, biking, yard work it will over bolus me into severe hypoglycemia. So I often turn it off during the day and use a reduced basal rate.

  I have to go into manual mode to suspend insulin for exercise- so every day.

  I often use "stop delivery" on a timer when I'm exercising but I don't think that's what the question is about. I never turn off CIQ except when it's off automatically during sensor warm-up (still on G6).

  When I'm active, I switch to a different profile for activity & add the exercise feature (Tandem Mobi). If I don't, I'll drop like a rock. I'm often active taking care of horses or training my dog. Mucking stalls is a lot more work than I ever realized. My blood sugar tells me by dropping.

  Of course machines fail. Do the doors ever blow off a Boeing airplane? When challenged, the companies always, always blame pilot error (user error) first. Eventually -- hundreds of questions later -- they admit something that has been known since the stone age invention of the wheel, "Yup, machines do fail on occasion."

  I never had a Tandem or Animas pump fail, but had two Minimed pumps start to PUMP while on an airplane. I had to yank the canula, it kept pumping with no alarm. I complained to Medtronic and their answer was "that is not possible", NEVER AGAIN WILL I TRUST ONE OFCTEIR PRODUCTS OR ENGINEERING.

  My old Medtronic Paradigm failed due to button freeze a LOOOOOOONNNNGGGG time ago. Haven't had a problem with my current Tandem pump or any other since.

  Thats so funny that you ask this question. I have had the Tslim for over 7 years and never had a malfunction until the other day. I had a weird sounding alarm and of course it was late at night. It said to call Tandem for help. The representative was very helpful and in about half an hour I was up and running again,. The pump had to be reset. All is good now!!

  Yes it failed once my sugars went up and up and up then I took shots and brought it down and the company replaced the pump and it came within 12 hours which isn’t bad considering but no ketones

  Called Tandem, reviewed failure and circumstances, and was informed replacement would be forthcoming. Very good response usually less than 24 hours.
