Position: Director of Marketing
Classification: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Location: Boston, MA

T1D Exchange is an innovative nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating therapies and solutions for type 1 diabetes. We are rapidly expanding and have an exciting opportunity for a creative and experienced Director of Marketing who will develop and implement strategies that will position T1D Exchange as a leader in the field. We seek an exceptional communicator with advanced analytical skills and a proven ability to collaborate across departments to develop and implement strategies that achieve results.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead development and implementation of the organization’s marketing strategy.
  • Oversee the planning, development, and execution of the organization’s marketing activities including brand development, marketing communications, digital and print campaigns, events, and public relations.
  • Partner with business development to support strategic initiatives, business objectives, and resources.
  • Work closely with the advancement team to develop marketing programs and materials to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Oversee marketing agency and supervise a growing internal team of about 3 people.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent years of experience) in business, advertising, communications, marketing or related discipline required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, including experience with budgeting, staffing, and leading teams to generate high quality results.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across departments to implement processes and achieve results with a track record of building and maintaining productive relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Highly effective leadership and team-management skills with the ability to achieve results with limited supervision.

Position: Data Analyst
Classification: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Location: Boston, MA

T1D Exchange is growing, and we have created an additional opportunity for a highly skilled Data Analyst to join our team. The Data Analyst’s primary role is to provide statistical and analytical expertise to support and advance the mission of the organization to improve outcomes for people living with type 1 diabetes.

The Data Analyst will work closely with the Research, Quality Improvement, and Biobank Teams, sponsors and internal stakeholders to design and implement statistical analyses for observational and interventional research, as well as to help establish best practices for data management and data analysis strategies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop statistical analysis plans for research studies and analyze data using industry-standard statistical tools
  • Review research data to summarize population demographics, identify trends within and across studies and extrapolate other statistical inferences
  • Draft, edit, and present data analysis reports:
    • Provide exemplary tabular and graphic summaries of analyses for presentations at scientific meetings and in manuscript-ready formats for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals
  • Establish best practices for data management and review published works to produce world-class research methods and scientific reporting
  • Maintain working knowledge of recent best practices of statistical techniques and federal and state regulations
  • Perform other duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree or higher in statistics, bioinformatics, biology, psychology, sociology or social sciences
  • Five years of work experience in a similar role; less experience will be considered in conjunction with higher degree
  • Knowledge and research in diabetes
  • Highly skilled advanced statistics programs such as R for data manipulation and statistical analysis
  • Experienced in SPC* (Statistical Process Control) methods and familiarity with Minitab or QI Macros preferred
  • Background in Six Sigma or Lean is highly desirable
  • Experience in dealing with extraction and manipulation of relational databases (SQL)
  • Experience in advanced statistical techniques such as predictive statistical models, customer profiling, segmentation analysis survey design and analysis and data mining
  • Experience of analyzing large data sets to develop custom models and algorithms to drive solutions.
  • Experience building large data sets from multiple sources to build algorithms for predicting future data characteristics.
  • Experience working with survey design, data collection and dissemination, and creating research study design (e.g. statistical analysis plans)
  • Proficient in summarizing results and conclusions for scientific presentations/manuscripts with the ability to translate and present complex analyses into key points for presentation for a variety of audiences

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience handling confidential information and familiarity with privacy/HIPAA requirements
  • Knowledge of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) process and documentation
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) with the capacity to elicit useful information and ask relevant follow-up questions

Position: Administrative Assistant, Research
Classification: Full-time (40 hours per week)

We are rapidly expanding and have an exciting opportunity for a reliable and experienced Administrative Assistant for our Research Team. We seek an organized, detail-oriented planner who enjoys being a “jack-of-all-trades” and understands the nuances of effective communication. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Calendar management: schedule meetings and conference calls, determine priorities, and high-level scheduling
  • Project work: handle high-level projects for the teams. This work varies but may include running financial reports, reconciling invoices and professional fees, and administering lease and entity paperwork.
  • Travel management: plan travel (book hotels, flights, and ground transportation) for directors and occasional trips that involve multiple members of the team.

 Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience in an administrative role.

 Responsibilities include:

  • The individual in this position will accomplish project objectives by planning and evaluating project activities and ensure operational objectives by contributing information and organization to strategic plans and projects.
  • This position will involve leading the planning and implementation of projects and facilitate the management of project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Additional responsibilities of this position will include defining project tasks and resource requirements in addition to developing full scale Project Management plans, assemble, and coordinate project staff.
  • This position involves managing project resource allocation and plan and schedule project timelines.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in IT, healthcare, medicine, life sciences, or related field with a minimum of two years full-time project management experience. Project Management Certification preferred.

  • A flexible management style and a tolerance for ambiguity. This person needs to be able to adapt and move projects forward.

  • Advanced experience in performing and prioritizing multiple computer based tasks is necessary.
  • Must have effective communication skills, relate positively with community and communicate with utmost tact and diplomacy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and project management tools/software.
  • Familiar with the working flow of Data Management, Statistics, coordinating the project team, keeping collaborative and team informed of progress. Using project management software to plan and resource stages.
  • Previous experience assisting with strategic communication preparation, as well as proofing and editing.

Position:  Lead Research Study Coordinator, Living Biobank

The Biobank team at T1D Exchange is growing to include a knowledgeable Lead Research Study Coordinator for immediate full‐time employment. This position will work with the Associate Director of Clinical Research on the Living Biobank, a biorepository study focused on T1D patients throughout the country agreeing to share their health information and be contacted for bio specimen donation when they “match” requirements for a specific sub‐study. The position will also work closely with the study Project Manager and Biobank Director.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in drafting protocol supplemental materials for IRB review including process charts, patient facing materials and associated research documents
  • Assist in drafting informed consent documents including communicating with a commercial IRB
  • Provide input and support in developing a web based administrative sample and participant tracking. This position will use this system to manage participant information and enrollment.
  • Provide input on technical requirements for total electronic study system including: sample ordering and tracking system, electronic consenting process, participant tracking and follow up, structure of reports, educational segments as well as many other patient facing aspects
  • Participate in testing of various aspects of the total study electronic system

Additional responsibilities after launch of the Living Biobank:

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of research databases and standard operating procedures and actively participate in team meetings
  • Collect and record study data
  • Work with the repository to recruit and consent participants
  • Answer patient questions concerning enrollment and the consenting process via phone as needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in a scientific or health related field
  • 2‐3 years’ experience in clinical research and/or biorepositories
  • A general interest in clinical research and working in a team setting
  • A desire to work in a fast‐paced environment as well as being a self‐motivated and fast learner
  • Must be adaptable to do work which is varied and requires an intellectual and professional approach
  • Some familiarity of IRB processes and human subjects regulations

We have developed a new research and development model that accelerates progress, connects key stakeholders, and links patient outcomes to research data in logical ways; a new model that strives to bring drugs and devices to market more efficiently, and facilitates interactions between patients, clinicians, researchers, and industry.

Patient-centered research (PCR) plays a critical role in the evolving healthcare space by including patient voice in the research and development process, creation of new products and integrated care programs that focus on health outcomes and patient/clinician satisfaction. The T1D Exchange Patient Centered Research Initiative (PCRI) aims to leverage our more than 35,000 patient/caregiver participants to drive a new era of engagement and inform and influence diabetes research and development organizations, companies, regulators and payers.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Research Scientist of to lead research studies of the T1D Exchange Patient Centered Initiative and be a subject matter expert. Our PCRI will leverage existing T1D Exchange resources and support the development of synergistic strategic initiatives: Quality Improvement, Collaborative Science and Sponsored Research.

Responsibilities Include:

Patient Centered Research: Develop and maintain PCRI priorities for market research studies, patient insight, and research projects.

  • Direct and coordinate required content and staff to support successful research objectives from hypothesis generation to manuscript submission
  • Lead a team of Research Assistants and Biostatisticians to support research objectives aligned with mission
  • Cultivate, support, and enhance collaborative relationships with internal and external researchers, sponsors and research institutions
  • Seek new and innovative approaches to conduct patient centered research by leveraging patient and caregiver cohort

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s in Health Science, Public Health, or related field with 5+ years of experience conducting research
  • Experience and knowledge in type 1 diabetes required
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of patient centered research; protocol development, epidemiology and biostatistics
  • Experience working with clients (e.g., pharmaceutical companies, other researchers, etc.)
  • Strong writing capabilities, organizational skills, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Additional Qualifications:

  • Excellent problem solving, and communications skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, donors, researchers, physicians, corporate leaders, civic and community leaders and other professionals
  • Knowledge of grant and contract application and award processes, regulations and regulatory process required to conduct human subject research
  • Publications in the area of patient centered research
