Position: Data Analyst
Classification: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Location: Boston, MA

T1D Exchange is growing, and we have created an additional opportunity for a highly skilled Data Analyst to join our team. The Data Analyst’s primary role is to provide statistical and analytical expertise to support and advance the mission of the organization to improve outcomes for people living with type 1 diabetes.

The Data Analyst will work closely with the Research, Quality Improvement, and Biobank Teams, sponsors and internal stakeholders to design and implement statistical analyses for observational and interventional research, as well as to help establish best practices for data management and data analysis strategies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop statistical analysis plans for research studies and analyze data using industry-standard statistical tools
  • Review research data to summarize population demographics, identify trends within and across studies and extrapolate other statistical inferences
  • Draft, edit, and present data analysis reports:
    • Provide exemplary tabular and graphic summaries of analyses for presentations at scientific meetings and in manuscript-ready formats for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals
  • Establish best practices for data management and review published works to produce world-class research methods and scientific reporting
  • Maintain working knowledge of recent best practices of statistical techniques and federal and state regulations
  • Perform other duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree or higher in statistics, bioinformatics, biology, psychology, sociology or social sciences
  • Five years of work experience in a similar role; less experience will be considered in conjunction with higher degree
  • Knowledge and research in diabetes
  • Highly skilled advanced statistics programs such as R for data manipulation and statistical analysis
  • Experienced in SPC* (Statistical Process Control) methods and familiarity with Minitab or QI Macros preferred
  • Background in Six Sigma or Lean is highly desirable
  • Experience in dealing with extraction and manipulation of relational databases (SQL)
  • Experience in advanced statistical techniques such as predictive statistical models, customer profiling, segmentation analysis survey design and analysis and data mining
  • Experience of analyzing large data sets to develop custom models and algorithms to drive solutions.
  • Experience building large data sets from multiple sources to build algorithms for predicting future data characteristics.
  • Experience working with survey design, data collection and dissemination, and creating research study design (e.g. statistical analysis plans)
  • Proficient in summarizing results and conclusions for scientific presentations/manuscripts with the ability to translate and present complex analyses into key points for presentation for a variety of audiences

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience handling confidential information and familiarity with privacy/HIPAA requirements
  • Knowledge of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) process and documentation
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) with the capacity to elicit useful information and ask relevant follow-up questions
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accurate results; works with passion, integrity, and energy
  • Must have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting, working in a cross-functional environment serving diverse populations

Position: Research Scientist, Patient Centered Research

We have developed a new research and development model that accelerates progress, connects key stakeholders, and links patient outcomes to research data in logical ways; a new model that strives to bring drugs and devices to market more efficiently, and facilitates interactions between patients, clinicians, researchers, and industry.

Patient-centered research (PCR) plays a critical role in the evolving healthcare space by including patient voice in the research and development process, creation of new products and integrated care programs that focus on health outcomes and patient/clinician satisfaction. The T1D Exchange Patient Centered Research Initiative (PCRI) aims to leverage our more than 35,000 patient/caregiver participants to drive a new era of engagement and inform and influence diabetes research and development organizations, companies, regulators and payers.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Research Scientist of to lead research studies of the T1D Exchange Patient Centered Initiative and be a subject matter expert. Our PCRI will leverage existing T1D Exchange resources and support the development of synergistic strategic initiatives: Quality Improvement, Collaborative Science and Sponsored Research.

Responsibilities Include:

Patient Centered Research: Develop and maintain PCRI priorities for market research studies, patient insight, and research projects.

  • Direct and coordinate required content and staff to support successful research objectives from hypothesis generation to manuscript submission
  • Lead a team of Research Assistants and Biostatisticians to support research objectives aligned with mission
  • Cultivate, support, and enhance collaborative relationships with internal and external researchers, sponsors and research institutions
  • Seek new and innovative approaches to conduct patient centered research by leveraging patient and caregiver cohort

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s in Health Science, Public Health, or related field with 5+ years of experience conducting research
  • Experience and knowledge in type 1 diabetes required
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of patient centered research; protocol development, epidemiology and biostatistics
  • Experience working with clients (e.g., pharmaceutical companies, other researchers, etc.)
  • Strong writing capabilities, organizational skills, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Additional Qualifications:

  • Excellent problem solving, and communications skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, donors, researchers, physicians, corporate leaders, civic and community leaders and other professionals
  • Knowledge of grant and contract application and award processes, regulations and regulatory process required to conduct human subject research
  • Publications in the area of patient centered research

We are rapidly expanding and have an exciting opportunity for a creative and experienced Director of Marketing who will develop and implement strategies that will position T1D Exchange as a leader in the field. We seek an exceptional communicator with advanced analytical skills and a proven ability to collaborate across departments to develop and implement strategies that achieve results.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement agency-wide and program-specific marketing plans and communications strategies, encompassing social media and digital marketing, print marketing, email campaigns, traditional advertising, direct mail, PR and other communication vehicles.
  • Lead the development of content across all communications channels (newsletter, websites, intranet, social media, traditional media, etc.).
  • Generate media interest and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests.
  • Supervise a small team, promoting a collaborative, positive, and productive team culture.
  • Oversee copywriting, design, layout, and production of all traditional and digital marketing collateral.

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, including experience with budgeting, staffing, and leading teams to generate high quality results.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across departments to implement processes and achieve results with a track record of building and maintaining productive relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Highly effective leadership and team-management skills with the ability to achieve results with limited supervision.

  • Lead Data Support, Analysis and Reporting for Development Team:
    • Manage the donor database. Ensure its accuracy and integrity. Provide development & marketing staff with clear processes and procedures for use of the database.
    • Create and maintain tools to track Development Teams’ progress towards goals.
    • Ensure maintenance and accuracy of development team’s data.
    • Utilize CRM and other tools to create reports for internal and external audiences.
  • Coordinate Logistics for Fundraising Events and Appeals:
    • Manage gift processing, accurate gift and pledge entry, timely acknowledgement of all gifts, pledge collection activities, and entry of minor moves.
    • Manage operations and logistics for fundraising events (invitations, registration, gift processing, etc.).
    • Collaborate with social media point person for content and processes related to online fundraising campaigns.
    • Work with Development Team on creation of collateral for events, meetings and appeals.
    • Provide regular reports of development results in clear, concise, user-friendly formats. Track and maintain Development Department’s results dashboard.
    • Track department expenses against budget.
    • Track and report progress on Development Department’s Key Performance Indicators.
  • Support Relationships with Key Stakeholders:
    • Work with finance team to ensure accuracy and timeliness of gift processing.
    • Lead on gift collection, follow up and thank you appeals with donors.
  • Participate in All Staff Events and Projects:
    • Become an active member of the staff team by attending and contributing to all staff events and projects like Annual Meeting and Diabetes Innovation Challenge
