Position: Community Engagement & Content Manager
Classification: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Location: Boston, MA

T1D Exchange is growing, and we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate Community Engagement & Content Manager to join our expanding team. The Community Engagement & Content Manager’s primary role is to cultivate and foster engagement as well as facilitate patient centered research with patients and caregivers in T1D Exchange’s type 1 diabetes online community, MyGlu.org.

We seek an experienced healthcare writer/editor with a background in content strategy that can drive the Glu strategy by understanding the needs of the T1D community and translating that into online engagement, increasing use and utility of the site and driving research.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the strategic development of T1D Exchange’s patient and caregiver community, MyGlu.org:
    • Drive, plan and manage strategic, interesting and informative content to the diverse participants of Glu that best supports the T1D Exchange mission-based research, engagement and fundraising needs
    • Partner with Communications and Research teams to strategize, execute and support content that help to grow Glu while continuing to expand its reach, grow the community and diversify participants. Support the creation and sourcing of clinical/medical articles and information, as well as the engaging the community in research
    • Lead online platform strategies to support research activities, and to create an enhanced user experience, deeper engagement and best practices using marketing automation techniques
  • Ensure a social strategy is implemented to maintain a community brand presence on Glu and in social networks
    • Coordinate with marketing team to track, manage and ensure adherence to the editorial calendar while also ensuring social media channels operate seamlessly with Glu content strategy
  • Actively participate in patient engagement platform, including moderation and feeding of discussion on Glu
  • Work closely with the Advancement team on strategies for cultivation, fundraising and conversion (from community participant to donor) initiatives.
  • Represent and present Glu to grow the community and drive ongoing engagement and participation in key activities; supporting outreach and networking efforts at area, regional and national events:
    • Contribute to planning and execution of events, including coordinating with business development, advancement, and research teams to identify opportunities for community engagement, educational, research, outreach and fundraising opportunities for local type 1 communities
  • Coordinate overall Glu internal project management across Business Development, Advancement, Research, analytics and technology development; and WordPress administration.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, publications, public health, or marketing
  • 10 years’ experience in copywriting, social media, journalism, public relations public health or multi-media design
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and measure impact of strategy, content, preferably, in a non-profit, and/or research organization
  • Technically savvy with strong skills in MSOffice and WordPress; experience working with a marketing technology platform (such as Marketo or HubSpot) and MailChimp

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience managing an online community a plus
  • Ability to drive digital strategies across web and social channels
  • Strong communicator with exceptional verbal, writing and editing skills
  • Scientific or technical writing experience a plus
  • A strong track record as an implementer and strategist who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently
  • Strong and proven knowledge of type 1 diabetes (T1D)
  • Passion for creating and implementing new initiatives
  • Enthusiasm for, and experience with, developing innovative web and digital/social media strategies, including research and fundraising efforts

Position: Director of Marketing

We are rapidly expanding and have an exciting opportunity for a creative and experienced Director of Marketing who will develop and implement strategies that will position T1D Exchange as a leader in the field. We seek an exceptional communicator with advanced analytical skills and a proven ability to collaborate across departments to develop and implement strategies that achieve results.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead development and implementation of the organization’s marketing strategy.
  • Oversee the planning, development, and execution of the organization’s marketing activities including brand development, marketing communications, digital and print campaigns, events, and public relations.
  • Partner with business development to support strategic initiatives, business objectives, and resources.
  • Work closely with the advancement team to develop marketing programs and materials to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Oversee marketing agency and supervise a growing internal team of about 3 people.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent years of experience) in business, advertising, communications, marketing or related discipline required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, including experience with budgeting, staffing, and leading teams to generate high quality results.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across departments to implement processes and achieve results with a track record of building and maintaining productive relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Highly effective leadership and team-management skills with the ability to achieve results with limited supervision.

We are rapidly expanding and have an exciting opportunity for a creative and experienced Director of Advancement who will lead the organization’s fundraising strategy and activities to secure financial and other support to sustain our organization, including planned, annual, deferred and in-kind giving. The position will identify, cultivate and solicit individuals, foundations. and corporations to support T1D Exchange’s patient outreach and research initiatives. We seek an exceptional communicator to provide strategic leadership and operational management. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Fundraising strategist responsible for developing short/long-term goals to meet the organization’s funding requirements
  • Develop a comprehensive fundraising plan and supporting staff/operational needs to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Provides leadership for the organization’s efforts to obtain financial and other support to help sustain its work, including planned, annual, deferred, and other giving. Identifies and as appropriate contacts individuals, foundations and corporations to solicit donations. Manages the organization’s major gifts program.
  • Identify and implement new funding sources, with a focus on increasing sustainable unrestricted private donations and research grants
  • Partner with CEO, Board of Directors, and Executive team to deepen existing funder relationships and cultivate new supporters.
  • Participates as a member of the leadership team to formulate, implement, and review fundraising and other procedures and plans to support the fundraising plan and operations. Responsible for the approved campaign strategy and execution, and for long-range donor relations.
  • Partners with marketing team in order to support an appropriate image of organization, to develop partners with the community, and to meet overarching fundraising and participation goals.
  • Develops and manages special events that generate funds and attendance, and/or to increase members volunteers and/or clients for the organization. Identifies special events that are appropriate to the organization’s image and mission. Solicits donations and participation.
  • Plan and evaluate financial needs and long range fundraisings plans for the organization’s future.
  • Responsible for the strategy execution, oversight of data management and supervision of administrative and support staff of 3-4 including the management of team budgets.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10-15 years of directly related leadership experience, preferably in a development department of a nonprofit or health organization.
  • Past experience in working with high net worth individuals/foundations and representing an organization to external audiences.
  • Experience with diabetes or related disease foundation or organization.
  • Demonstrated fundraising success from a variety of fundraising opportunities.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective fundraising strategies.
  • Proven track record of developing successful partnerships with companies and organizations.
  • Donor communications experience.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills; persuasive, credible, and polished communicator both written and verbal.
  • Creative, independent, and strategic thinker.
  • Strong strategic planning and project and budget management skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and database management.

Position: Data Analyst
Classification: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Location: Boston, MA

T1D Exchange is growing, and we have created an additional opportunity for a highly skilled Data Analyst to join our team. The Data Analyst’s primary role is to provide statistical and analytical expertise to support and advance the mission of the organization to improve outcomes for people living with Type 1 Diabetes.

The Data Analyst will work closely with the Research, Quality Improvement, and Biobank Teams, sponsors and internal stakeholders to design and implement statistical analyses for observational and interventional research, as well as to help establish best practices for data management and data analysis strategies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop statistical analysis plans for research studies and analyze data using industry-standard statistical tools
  • Review research data to summarize population demographics, identify trends within and across studies and extrapolate other statistical inferences
  • Draft, edit, and present data analysis reports:
    • Provide exemplary tabular and graphic summaries of analyses for presentations at scientific meetings and in manuscript-ready formats for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals
  • Establish best practices for data management and review published works to produce world-class research methods and scientific reporting
  • Maintain working knowledge of recent best practices of statistical techniques and federal and state regulations
  • Perform other duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree or higher in statistics, bioinformatics, biology, psychology, sociology or social sciences
  • Five years of work experience in a similar role; less experience will be considered in conjunction with higher degree
  • Knowledge and research in diabetes preferred
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative analysis methods, such as t-tests, chi-squared, ANOVA, and structural equational modeling
  • Experience working with survey design, data collection and dissemination, and creating research study design (e.g. statistical analysis plans)
  • Proficient in summarizing results and conclusions for scientific presentations/manuscripts with the ability to translate and present complex analyses into key points for presentation for a variety of audiences
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Office programs and advanced statistics programs such as SPSS for data manipulation and statistical analysis
  • Observational and interventional research study experience preferred

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience handling confidential information and familiarity with privacy/HIPAA requirements
  • Knowledge of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) process and documentation
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) with the capacity to elicit useful information and ask relevant follow-up questions
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accurate results; works with passion, integrity, and energy
  • Must have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting, working in a cross-functional environment serving diverse populations

Responsibilities include:

  • Calendar management: schedule meetings and conference calls, determine priorities, and high-level scheduling
  • Project work: handle high-level projects for the teams. This work varies but may include running financial reports, reconciling invoices and professional fees, and administering lease and entity paperwork.
  • Travel management: plan travel (book hotels, flights, and ground transportation) for directors and occasional trips that involve multiple members of the team.

 Basic Qualifications:

  • Familiar with the working flow of Data Management, Statistics, coordinating the project team, keeping collaborative and team informed of progress. Using project management software to plan and resource stages.
  • Previous experience assisting with strategic communication preparation, as well as proofing and editing.
