IMPORTANT NOTE: In order to be considered for this study, you must live in proximity to the Oregon Health & Sciences University in Portland, OR, as the study requires in person visits.
We are seeking volunteers to test an investigational device smartphone application for patients with type 1 diabetes. The primary purpose of this study is to determine if we can improve the amount of time that your blood sugar is in the target range for your diabetes through the use of a decision support app called DailyDose. You will start the study managing your diabetes as you normally would with a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) followed by using the Dailydose app, an investigational device. You will then use the Dailydose app to assist you with diabetes management. We will compare your glucose control between the two treatments. The mobile app Dailydose will track your sensor glucose, insulin and exercise data, and make personalized recommendations to change your insulin dosing. It will also offer suggestions for meals, exercise and rescue carbohydrate treatments.
You will be provided with an iPhone, short-acting insulin pens, an activity tracker and a CGM. Compensation is up to $700 for participating with additional incentives for completing study procedures.
You may be eligible for this study if you:
- Have type 1 diabetes
- Are between ages 18 to 60
- Use multiple daily injections
- Physically able to perform exercise for up to 30 minutes
What is involved?
- 4 visits to OHSU, visits last between 1-4 hours
