On average, how long does it take you to recover from a low glucose episode?
It varies significantly I can become hypo instead of hyper due to being sick at times.

For me, to become functional again after a hypo, it takes about a half an hour. But to fully recover, meaning that I feel like it hadn't happened, is now more than hour. Getting older has definitely expanded those timelines.

The older I get the longer it takes to recover. Luckily, I don’t have many lows now that I’m on a pump/CGM closed loop system.

How often do you take a “vacation” from wearable diabetes technology (insulin pump, CGM)?
Only when the pump or sensor fails & I'm not with the next replacement. Not really a vacation. (I've had them fail on vacation, too.)

How often do you take a “vacation” from wearable diabetes technology (insulin pump, CGM)?
Is a 1/2 hour a vacation? On those magic days when the pump and sensor need to be changed at the same time, I might take a "naked" shower where I don't have to worry about scrubbing one or the other off, but that's about it.

To what extent does diabetes technology reduce day-to-day stress for you?
CGM is great, but sometimes too much data is stressful. All the pressure to be in range is a new numerical stress with statistical worries added on. The worries were always present, but nowadays they are front and center.

Krisit, the struggle's are real, and the ridiculous codes, makes us have to be Pharmaceutical experts. I'm a fan of the devices, but not the issues that come up when we try to fill them. Trying to travel, during a period when you are supposed to receive them, means you may have to go back to MDI. I tried to order some before a trip,, and they said they'd send them early, but that didn't happen. It's crazy, what we have to navigate to get our devices.

I selected “ somewhat” because sometimes when it works, it’s fantastic but sometimes when it doesn’t work is a nightmare. It is either your best friend or your worst enemy.

Being diagnosed thirty years earlier would have beeb better than suffering all those year. The difference after starting treatment was amazing.

I get a questionnaire about health and mental health before each visit. Also, My visit last week was on video. But, I still filled out my pre-visit questionnaire.

It’s not reimbursable, so the only ones that will take action are those that care about patients over profits for the Healthcare system.

No for my endo doc but I did have a questionnaire at my primary care facility that gave me that survey.

It’s been years since I was last asked to fill out a questionnaire on my Mental Health, and this was NOT by anyone employed within the Diabetes Centre, but someone who was from top management within the hospital. To be frank, if you don’t mind me changing my name for a second, I firmly believe it was a ‘ticking boxes’ exercise. i.e. to show that this was something that they do.

That sucks to hear 🙁 and I can definitely see that happening. I have always been followed up with in my experiences and I wish, wherever you are, your healthcare providers would do the same with genuine care and follow through. I hope if** you do need help, then you reach out to a professional. Be well

        @Kayci Marr,

        Bless you, ma’am.

During my ‘working years’ I used to be a Social Worker and was in a position to ‘refer’ myself for appointments, none of which served any useful purpose. (I referred myself to see a psychologist and it was arranged for someone to visit me at home. Unfortunately, the person who visited me was already known to me on a professional level. She did ask if I wanted someone else to visit me instead of her good self, but I refused that option. The ‘homework’ she gave me to do sent my mind running back to my own Social Work training and what was required of assignments/essays so I simply wrote what I KNEW the psychologist wanted to ‘hear’.) We never actually got around to talking about what the REAL problem was.)

I completed a pre-appointment questionnaire on my MyChart account that asked mental health questions in addition to Covid symptom questions. The questionnaire is included in every pre-appointment confirmation response. if it isn’t answered on-line it has to be answered during appointment registration before seeing the provider.

Diabetic for 32 years and I have never had an endo ask me about my mental health. I do think they should since T1D can be ‘challenging’ over an extended length of time.

I believe this is a new process, for me It’s not necessary. My doctor sits down, and we have a lengthy conversation on many subjects other than Diabetes. My Endo. is a HAM Radio operator, and I sat a Second Radio position in the US Navy, as an Anti-Submarine Warfare Crew member. I’m sure he senses my Mental Health.

Of the 5 endocrinologists I’ve seen, during the med trial, (#2) and the last had such a form. I guess my curse of optimism the others just ask general questions, but diabetes to me is just a part.

No, the doctor does a verbal questionnaire. This allows him to expand on any concerning answers.
