Research Assistant II

Position: Research Assistant II
Classification: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Location: Boston, MA

T1D Exchange is an innovative nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating therapies and improving care for people with type 1 diabetes. We are rapidly expanding and have an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant II to help make an immediate impact.

The Research Assistant II works closely with the Patient Centered Research Team to support creation, review and management of online surveys, IRB submissions and monitoring deadlines. Support team on interview and recruitment processes for type 1 diabetes research studies.

Roles and Responsibilities include:
• Collaborate with PCR team to develop, build, and test online surveys.
• Manage survey data collection, participant follow up, and study close out processes.
• Support development of literature review, protocols, ethnographic interviews, focus groups, project presentations, and other project materials needed to drive project goals.
• Manage IRB processes by submitting protocols and renewal applications that govern PCR studies.
• Support team with needed material in support of formal presentations to the senior management team, external advisors, and other third parties in the form of research manuscripts, abstracts, info graphics, educational materials, and posters.
• Support the development of materials presented in conferences and meetings related to type 1 diabetes.
• Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in bioinformatics, biology, psychology, sociology, or life sciences.
• 2 to 4 years of work experience. Less experience will be considered in conjunction with higher degree
• Experience in online survey construction, protocol creation and scientific writing capabilities.
• Experience of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) process and documentation IRB knowledge.
• Experience handling confidential information and familiarity with privacy/HIPAA requirements.
• Knowledge working with multiple stakeholders regarding input on data collection, survey development, and data dissemination.
• Knowledge of efficient presentation of data such as info graphics, abstracts, posters, and manuscripts.
• Experience using Microsoft Office programs.
• Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast‐pace setting.

Director of Finance

Position: Director of Finance
Classification: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Location: Boston, MA

T1D Exchange is an innovative nonprofit research organization dedicated to accelerating therapies and improving care for people with type 1 diabetes. We are rapidly expanding and have an exciting opportunity for a Finance professional to help make an immediate impact.

The Director of Finance position is a key leadership role at T1D Exchange. The position will report to the COO but will also work closely with the leadership team in supporting the network’s future strategic direction and establishing policies and procedures which guide T1D Exchange’s financial operations and assist in the achievement of the planned growth. The position will be responsible for the continued development and execution of the financial goals.

The Director of Finance will provide leadership and coordination of T1D Exchange’s financial planning, project financing, and budget management functions and ensure accounting procedures and reporting conform to generally accepted accounting principles and T1D Exchange standards.

Roles and Responsibilities include:
• Develop financial strategy, planning, policy and evaluation that directly correlates and aligns with initiatives, growth plans and mission of the organization as a whole.
• Direct and coordinate financial planning and budget management functions across all teams.
• Manage the completion of financial reports including quarterly financial statements for the leadership and individual teams, including an analysis of actual to budget; financial forecasts; financing projections; cash flow analysis; annual budgets and board reporting.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary and financial reporting requirements.
• Oversee financial components of the distribution of all grants, reviewing proposals, coordinating disbursements, and ensuring accurate accounting and reporting of grant funds.
• Recommend benchmarks for measuring financial and operating performance.
• Work with team leads to develop one and multi-year budgets/business plans.
• Assist in establishing short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
• Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.
• Oversee daily operations of the finance and accounting department.
• Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure to effectively accomplish the department’s goals and objectives.
• Coordinate annual financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.
• Oversee accounting of funds received in accordance with best practices for research organizations, including but not limited to oversight and management of 990 form.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of a BA, ideally with an MBA/CPA or related degree (Master’s degree preferred).
• At least seven to 10 years of overall professional experience; ideally six-plus years of broad financial and operations management experience
• Knowledge of finance, accounting and budgeting principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
• Experience in non-profit finance and accounting, preferred.
• Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems (Blackbaud, QuickBooks, and ADP preferred).
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.
• Extensive knowledge of short and long term budgeting, forecasting, financial projections.
• Commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
• Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.

Director of Quality Improvement

Position: Director of Quality Improvement
Classification: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Location: Boston, MA

T1D Exchange is an innovative nonprofit Real World Evidence research organization dedicated to accelerating therapies and improving care for people with type 1 diabetes. We are rapidly expanding and have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Improvement professional to help make an immediate impact.

T1D Exchange is creating the Quality Improvement (QI) collaborative comprised of a network of clinical care sites that will engage patients, families, clinicians and researchers to participate in projects aimed at improving health care delivery using QI methodology. The Director of the QI collaborative will be responsible for growth, maintenance and utilization of the data platform generated using the EMR and co-generation of interventions that will result in a change package for quality improvement. The Director will provide overall leadership and have accountability budget, strategy, research planning, onboarding of new clinical care sites and management of timelines and deliverables. The QI collaborative is a core program within the platform of clinical innovation at T1D Exchange, as such the Director will support and partner with other areas of the clinical innovation research team.

The role reports to the Chief Scientific Officer and is anticipated to include oversight of a planning grant period followed by a 2 stage implementation and operationalization of the quality improvement program.

Roles and Responsibilities include:
• Serve as the executive leader of Quality Improvement.
• Manage timelines, deliverables, and budget for Quality Improvement.
• Through the CSO, partner with executive officers – Advise the executive team and provide subject matter expert level knowledge and advice to:
– The development of long-term strategic plan for Quality Improvement.
– Contribute to development of a corporate business plan by helping to balance resource needs relating to Quality Improvement.
• Partnering with the collaborative faculty leaders to ensure successful execution of planning grant and pilot phases.
• Performs on-going competency assessment by performing periodic on-site visits and inter-rater reliability audits on internal indicator chart reviews, to ensure network-wide consistency in results.
• Oversees and monitors adherence to established action plans and performance improvement initiatives
• Manage the internal Quality Improvement staff
• Assists the grants and contracts manager in grant writing and seeking funding through public and private funding opportunities
• Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of a master’s degree in epidemiology, population health, or related field and/or 5 years of equivalent experience. Experience must include forming and managing quality improvement programs.
• Training in quality improvement methodology
• Knowledge and experience of biostatistics
• Deep understanding of EMR/EHR functionality and data integration
• Fluency in PHI protection and data safety policies.
• Type 1 diabetes subject matter knowledge/expertise.
• Managerial experience required.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including presentation skills to senior management.
• Basic knowledge of clinical operations including protocol development preferred
• Results oriented and excellent analytic and collaboration skills

Marketing and Communications Coordinator

Position: Marketing and Communications Coordinator

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will be responsible for execution of a multi-faceted communications plan aimed at raising awareness about T1D Exchange, its programs, and engaging its online community, GLU. Responsibilities will include working with internal and external resources to create and distribute collateral (including digital and print materials), updating website, planning and executing onsite meetings, and managing digital marketing campaigns. The individual will also be responsible for working with advancement team in fundraising activities.

Roles and Responsibilities include:
• Works within Marketing and Communications team to produce content for GLU community and overall organization, for the purposes of engagement, education, promotion, and fundraising.
• Works in conjunction with program area teams to develop marketing plan; produce and distribute marketing communications collateral evolving from that plan; track progress of collateral through the development process.
• Plan, organize, and manage communication campaigns for brand awareness and fundraising including, but not limited to direct mail, email, post-event communication, newsletters, publication announcements.
• Assist in the execution of internal and external events aimed at engaging and cultivating audiences.
• Ensure communications activities are aligned with messaging and brand standards.
• Ensure all communications activities are accomplished to best-practice communication and marketing standards – adherence to brand style and guidelines, produce content that is differentiated, intuitive, easily accessible, and with clear calls to action, statement of benefits, and demonstrable ROI.
• Select and manage appropriate consultants/vendors, communicating on the organization’s behalf.
• Ensure consistent worldwide messaging and content and act as brand ambassador.

Development Coordinator

Position: Development Coordinator
Classification: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Location: Boston, MA

T1D Exchange is an innovative nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating therapies and improving care for people with type 1 diabetes. We are rapidly expanding and have an exciting opportunity for a Development Coordinator who will oversee the coordination of T1D Exchange fundraising events, as well as various organizational and donor events throughout the year.

Working with the Director of Advancement, this position will be responsible for organizing, preparing and coordinating events, including planning, budgeting, agenda development, implementation and event follow up. The Development Coordinator will also prepare and update event tracking reports and timelines. Additional duties as it relates to special events include managing event volunteers, attending planning meetings, contacting vendors for logistical support and needs.

Roles and Responsibilities include:
• Works with Director of Development on donor stewardship, including correspondence. The Development Coordinator will be responsible for gift entry, generating thank you letters/cards, pulling mailing lists, generating donor reports, etc. Working on fundraising reporting presentations to leadership and board.
• Assists in overseeing annual fundraising programs, including online and mail appeals.
• Adheres to development and organizational policies and procedures.
• Maintains customer/donor confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in business, non-profit management, or related field such as communications, public relations or marketing
• Minimum of one year event planning/coordinating or related experience
• Minimum of one year of non-profit development or related experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access, etc.
• Proficiency with donor software program/management
• Understanding of Fundraising CRM a plus

IT Support

Position: IT Support
Classification: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Location: Boston, MA

T1D Exchange is an innovative nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating therapies and solutions for type 1 diabetes. T1D Exchange is launching a new function as we grow into a research organization and have enhanced the need for a dedicated IT support.

The IT Support team member maintains the computer networks of the organization, providing technical support and ensuring the whole company runs smoothly. IT Support monitors and maintains the company computer systems, installs and configures hardware and software, and solves technical problems.

Roles and Responsibilities include:
• Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners
• Establish accounts for new users and assist with password or login problems
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with software and hardware
• Walk colleagues through steps to help them resolve their technical problems
• Maintain procedures and reports that provide technical support to the entire organization
• Analyze records and logs to spot underlying trends and potential issue with IT ticketing system
• Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks
• Responding in a timely manner to service issues and requests
• Providing technical support across the company (this may be in person or over the phone)

Human Resources Coordinator

Position: Human Resources Coordinator
Classification: Full-time (40 hours per week)

T1D Exchange is an innovative nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating therapies and improving care for people with type 1 diabetes. We are rapidly expanding and have an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Coordinator to help make an immediate impact.

The Human Resources Coordinator will provide assistance with and facilitate the human resources processes at T1D Exchange. This role administers employee benefits and acts as a liaison between employees and insurance providers. This role assists in benefit-related problems and ensures effective use of plans and positive employee relations. The human resources coordinator provides administrative support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance, HRIS entry, and talent acquisition administration.

Roles and Responsibilities include:
• Administers benefits plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
• Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
• Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files. Submits online investigation requests and assists with new-employee background checks.
• Reconciles benefits statements.
• Conducts audits of benefits or other HR programs and recommends corrective action as needed.
• Assists with processing of terminations.
• Assists with the preparation of the performance review process.
• Assists with talent acquisition process. Tracks status of candidates in HRIS, responds with follow-up emails during the recruiting process, identifies new opportunities, and updates postings and position tracking.
• Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.
• Files documents into appropriate employee files.
• Assists or prepares correspondence, forms, as requested.
• Prepares new-employee files and conducts onboarding process.
• Assist with the management and enhancements to HR programs such as learning and development and reward and recognition.

Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.

Chief Scientific Officer

Position: Chief Scientific Officer
Classification: Full-time (40 hours per week)

T1D Exchange is an innovative nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating therapies and improving care for people with type 1 diabetes. We are rapidly expanding and have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Scientific Officer to look across the organization.

Reporting to Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Scientific Officer has primary responsibility for providing operational strategic and budgetary guidance of the Biobank, Patient-Centered Research, Quality Improvement Collaborative, and Registry resources, and implementation of the individual team strategies with the overall organizational strategy. This individual will be responsible for management of scientific and supporting the team of professionals who contribute to product ideation, concept development, product validation and qualification, legal, regulatory and compliance, stakeholder education and risk/benefit assessments throughout the product life cycle.

Roles and Responsibilities include:
• Provide broad directional input in defining the strategy and objectives for the organizational research efforts, including working closely with the scientific directors to leverage the Biobank, Quality Improvement, Registry, and Patient-Centered Research programs to maximize research investments and accelerated progress in type 1 diabetes science.
• Act as a consultative medical and scientific expert to T1D Exchange internal divisions (advancement, marketing, communications, corporate development, and operations) and external organizations to facilitate collaboration on initiatives and projects and ensure the consistent messaging of T1D Exchange’s mission from a clinical perspective
• Develop proposals for sponsored research projects in collaboration with T1D Exchange leadership
• Review and co-author T1D Exchange consumer and medical publications to ensure conformance to standards and good clinical practice as well as the development of new dissemination opportunities for scientific journal content
• Provide type 1 diabetes expertise and scientific leadership to conferences, T1D Exchange statements, Expert Panel meetings, and technical reviews, and oversee the process of writing and publishing the resulting statements
• Foster ongoing partnerships with external organizations
• Represent the T1D Exchange position on scientific and medical affairs to external stakeholders including advisory groups, national committees, and related health care organizations

Basic Qualifications:
• MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree with expertise of the medical care of people with type 1 diabetes, and knowledge of public health and health policy as it relates to our knowledge of type 1 diabetes.
• Seven or more years’ experience in clinical medicine, including significant capability in research investigation. Experience working in a non-profit is a plus.
• Understanding of medical/clinical practice and medical industry practices within the US.
• Significant experience in the medical management of type 1 diabetes and sufficient research experience in either clinical, basic, health care education and/or population health.
• Strong track-record of publications focused on type 1 diabetes
• Demonstrated experience serving as the PI on funded grants, preferably including NIH grants
• Management/Business experience to include talent management and budget accountability.
• Proven ability to lead and accomplish goals through influence in a decentralized, consensus-driven organization. Leads by example and is self-directed. An open, inclusive, team-oriented work style and the ability to collaborate with employees and consultants across the organization.
• High level of intellect and curiosity to work and business decisions. Creatively and effectively challenges the thinking of others. Capable and effective in negotiations. Able to see the cultural and personal implications of decisions and plan for them.
• Ability to work seamlessly with the activities related to participant programs, research, professional services to assure development of thoughtful and relevant programs for people with type 1 diabetes, their caregivers and clinics.
