Human Resources Coordinator

Position: Human Resources Coordinator
Classification: Full-time (40 hours per week)

T1D Exchange is an innovative nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating therapies and improving care for people with type 1 diabetes. We are rapidly expanding and have an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Coordinator to help make an immediate impact.

The Human Resources Coordinator will provide assistance with and facilitate the human resources processes at T1D Exchange. This role administers employee benefits and acts as a liaison between employees and insurance providers. This role assists in benefit-related problems and ensures effective use of plans and positive employee relations. The human resources coordinator provides administrative support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance, HRIS entry, and talent acquisition administration.

Roles and Responsibilities include:
• Administers benefits plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
• Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
• Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files. Submits online investigation requests and assists with new-employee background checks.
• Reconciles benefits statements.
• Conducts audits of benefits or other HR programs and recommends corrective action as needed.
• Assists with processing of terminations.
• Assists with the preparation of the performance review process.
• Assists with talent acquisition process. Tracks status of candidates in HRIS, responds with follow-up emails during the recruiting process, identifies new opportunities, and updates postings and position tracking.
• Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.
• Files documents into appropriate employee files.
• Assists or prepares correspondence, forms, as requested.
• Prepares new-employee files and conducts onboarding process.
• Assist with the management and enhancements to HR programs such as learning and development and reward and recognition.
• Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.

Chief Scientific Officer

Position: Chief Scientific Officer
Classification: Full-time (40 hours per week)

T1D Exchange is an innovative nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating therapies and improving care for people with type 1 diabetes. We are rapidly expanding and have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Scientific Officer to look across the organization.

Reporting to Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Scientific Officer has primary responsibility for providing operational strategic and budgetary guidance of the Biobank, Patient-Centered Research, Quality Improvement Collaborative, and Registry resources, and implementation of the individual team strategies with the overall organizational strategy. This individual will be responsible for management of scientific and supporting the team of professionals who contribute to product ideation, concept development, product validation and qualification, legal, regulatory and compliance, stakeholder education and risk/benefit assessments throughout the product life cycle.

Roles and Responsibilities include:
• Provide broad directional input in defining the strategy and objectives for the organizational research efforts, including working closely with the scientific directors to leverage the Biobank, Quality Improvement, Registry, and Patient-Centered Research programs to maximize research investments and accelerated progress in type 1 diabetes science.
• Act as a consultative medical and scientific expert to T1D Exchange internal divisions (advancement, marketing, communications, corporate development, and operations) and external organizations to facilitate collaboration on initiatives and projects and ensure the consistent messaging of T1D Exchange’s mission from a clinical perspective
• Develop proposals for sponsored research projects in collaboration with T1D Exchange leadership
• Review and co-author T1D Exchange consumer and medical publications to ensure conformance to standards and good clinical practice as well as the development of new dissemination opportunities for scientific journal content
• Provide type 1 diabetes expertise and scientific leadership to conferences, T1D Exchange statements, Expert Panel meetings, and technical reviews, and oversee the process of writing and publishing the resulting statements
• Foster ongoing partnerships with external organizations
• Represent the T1D Exchange position on scientific and medical affairs to external stakeholders including advisory groups, national committees, and related health care organizations

Basic Qualifications:
• MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree with expertise of the medical care of people with type 1 diabetes, and knowledge of public health and health policy as it relates to our knowledge of type 1 diabetes.
• Seven or more years’ experience in clinical medicine, including significant capability in research investigation. Experience working in a non-profit is a plus.
• Understanding of medical/clinical practice and medical industry practices within the US.
• Significant experience in the medical management of type 1 diabetes and sufficient research experience in either clinical, basic, health care education and/or population health.
• Strong track-record of publications focused on type 1 diabetes
• Demonstrated experience serving as the PI on funded grants, preferably including NIH grants
• Management/Business experience to include talent management and budget accountability.
• Proven ability to lead and accomplish goals through influence in a decentralized, consensus-driven organization. Leads by example and is self-directed. An open, inclusive, team-oriented work style and the ability to collaborate with employees and consultants across the organization.
• High level of intellect and curiosity to work and business decisions. Creatively and effectively challenges the thinking of others. Capable and effective in negotiations. Able to see the cultural and personal implications of decisions and plan for them.

Director of Partnerships and Fundraising

Position: Director of Partnerships and Fundraising
Classification: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Reporting to Chief Advancement Officer, the Director of Partnerships and Fundraising will be responsible for fundraising management activities, strategic event oversight, development and maintenance of partnerships, management of the corporate and individual fundraising teams, and other perspective business opportunities.

Roles and Responsibilities include:
• Overall fundraising management activities of the organization, including the refinement of and implementation of a 3 – 5 year fundraising strategy, focused on corporate and individual giving, with revenue generating responsibilities to financially support and strategically advance T1D Exchange.
• Development and maintenance of effective partnerships and other perspective business opportunities that are relevant T1D Exchange’s strategy.
• Oversight of T1D Exchange Strategic Events including annual partners and members meeting and Diabetes Innovation Challenge.
• Management of the corporate and individual fundraising teams, objectives, and key events.
• Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
• At least 10 years professional experience in inter-institutional relationship management, program development, and fundraising
• Undergraduate degree in a related field
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Knowledge and experience of the realities health nonprofit partnerships, donor strategies, funding instruments
• At least 5 years of team management and leadership experience
• Experience with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent inter-personal skills, and proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships, negotiate/mediate on issues, chair, resolve conflicts, and develop capacity
• Self-starter with the ability to work quickly and efficiently to meet tight deadlines in and out of office hours

Product Manager

Position: Product Manager
Classification: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Reporting to Chief Scientific Officer, the Product Manager will be a key professional to identify main functionality of the bio-technical products and at the same time coordinate effort with development and marketing teams to identify the best approach to present the products to the target audience. Along with the scientific teams, it is critical to find the way to define the products from the user perspective. The Product Manager will be responsible for defining the optimal user-related characteristics, appearance, functionality, and communications with the end user.

Roles and Responsibilities include:
• Coordinate and integrate products across the organization.
• Develop business plan in relation to products.
• Formulate and review organization short and long-range plans, goals, and objectives for each product.
• Conduct competitive product analysis and market research of product consumer behavior and professional audience.
• Determine the profitability and viability of new products or product enhancements.
• Work with other functions to finalize product specifications.
• Serve as technical adviser, demonstrating products, user experience testing, building protocols, training others, and troubleshooting product issues.
• Help in developing technical prototypes, create and manage the workflow, and communicate with technical and scientific teams.
• Get feedback from development and marketing regarding the target audience.
• Define and discuss the platforms to deliver the product to the end users (individuals, organizations, or clinics)
• Determine product roadmap based on understanding the user’s needs, the goals of the organization, and the goals of the technology.
• Discuss the product concept with science teams. In our case it would include the Biobank, Quality Improvement, Patient-Centered Research, the Registry, and UI/UX/technical development team.
• Ensure product delivery in stages according to the market vision and the corporate strategy.
• Manage and prioritize product enhancement requests and collaborate with product development team on execution.
• Identify, define, and engage end work.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of experience in project management, product management, product marketing, science or other quantitative field, or Master’s degree with 5+ years of experience.
• Previous experience applying market research techniques, analyzing business models, business strategy, or product strategy.
• Previous experience in software design management preferred.
• Previous experience in medical device, consumer products, or healthcare services.
• Understanding of health care products or health care systems, specifically type 1 diabetes knowledge preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with experience communicating with leadership.
• Self-driven, problem solver who takes ownership to see projects through to completion.

Data Analyst

Position: Data Analyst
Classification: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Location: Boston, MA

T1D Exchange is an innovative nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating therapies and improving care for people with type 1 diabetes. We are rapidly expanding and have an exciting opportunity for a Data Analyst.

The Data Analyst will work closely with the Patient Centered Research, Quality Improvement, Biobank Teams, sponsors and internal stakeholders to design and implement statistical analyses for qualitative, survey, and interventional research, as well as to help establish best practices for data management and data analytic strategies.

Develop and present statistical analysis and research plans to internal team and external stakeholders. Responsible for preparation of study documents (e.g., statistical analytic plans), reports and presentations (e.g., abstracts, manuscripts, scientific posters) to summarize research findings.

Mentor data analyst coordinator and consultants in analyzing data to discover trends across studies, improve data collection approaches to strengthen and optimize research output, identify and address confounding study variables, strengthen and optimize output of research.

Roles and Responsibilities include:
• Develop statistical analysis plans for research studies and analyze data using industry-standard statistical tools
• Review research data to summarize population demographics, identify trends within and across studies and extrapolate other statistical inferences
• Draft, edit, and present data analysis reports. Provide exemplary tabular and graphic summaries of analyses for presentations at scientific meetings and in manuscript-ready formats for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals
• Establish best practices for data management and review published works to produce world-class research methods and scientific reporting
• Maintain working knowledge of recent best practices of statistical techniques and federal and state regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned (e.g., data cleaning, data analysis, post-hoc analysis, interpretation of results, etc)

Basic Qualifications:
• A Master’s degree or higher in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, biology or social sciences.
• Five years of work experience in a similar role; less experience will be considered in conjunction with higher degree.
• Knowledge and research in diabetes preferred.
• Highly skilled in advanced statistics programs such as R, SAS or SPSS for data manipulation and statistical analysis.
• Experienced in SPC* (Statistical Process Control) methods and familiarity with Minitab or QI Macros preferred.
• Background in Six Sigma or Lean is highly desirable.
• Experience in dealing with extraction and manipulation of relational databases (SQL).
• Experience in advanced statistical techniques such as predictive statistical models, customer profiling, segmentation analysis and data mining.
• Experience of analyzing large data sets to develop custom models and algorithms to drive solutions.
• Highly skilled in clinical and/or socio-behavioral data analysis models, such as multiple regressions, logistic regressions, survival analysis, generalized linear modeling, and other common hypothesis testing models. Experience with advanced modeling, such as predictive models, multivariate models, and data mining.
• Experience with longitudinal data and/or clinical data is highly desirable.
• Experience building and managing large data sets from multiple sources to build algorithms for predicting future data characteristics.
• Proficient in summarizing results and conclusions for scientific presentations/manuscripts with the ability to translate and present complex analyses into key points for presentation for a variety of audiences.
• Experience handling confidential information and familiarity with privacy/HIPAA requirements.
• Knowledge of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) process and documentation.
• Excellent problem solving, and communications skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, donors, researchers, physicians, corporate leaders community leaders and other professionals.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accurate results; works with passion, integrity, and energy.

Administrative Assistant – Research

Position: Administrative Assistant – Research
Classification: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Location: Boston, MA

T1D Exchange is an innovative nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating therapies and improving care for people with type 1 diabetes. We are rapidly expanding and have an exciting opportunity for an Administrative Assistant in research.

The Administrative Assistant will work across Patient-Centered Research, Biobank, and Quality Improvement. We are searching for someone who is an organized, detail-oriented planner who enjoys being a “jack-of-all-trades” and understands the nuances of effective communication.

Roles and Responsibilities include:
• Calendar management: schedule meetings and conference calls, determine priorities, and high-level scheduling.
• Travel management: plan travel (book hotels, flights, and ground transportation) for directors and occasional trips that involve multiple members of the team.
• Project work: handle high-level projects for the teams. This work varies but may include running financial reports, reconciling invoices and professional fees, and document review.
• Data content management: build out and improve research library including table of contents, file migration, template organization, and both print and digital collection organization.
• Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience in an administrative role.
